Puzzling ignition switch behavior
Puzzling ignition switch behavior
If any electrical components are on when I go to start my 95 Maxima, I have trouble getting it started. The battery is fine, but if I turn the key when the radio is playing or the AC is running, the engine turns over, but the starter spits and coughs, and the car is hard to start. If I turn the radio and/or AC off, it starts right up.
Last night I tried to start it with the door open, and the starter spit and coughed until I closed the door. The door lights were causing the problem, even though the radio and AC were off.
Ideas? Do I need a new ignition switch?
