I checked my engine light code and it is 0407, I did it a second time and got 0505. On the decoder 0407 is a Crankshaft Position Sensor (reference). What does this mean? 0505 was a no failure recorded. If I do this again, will it give me another code if there is another problem? How do I figure out every code?

If you have more than one code it will flash the first one pause and then flash the second one. You just have to hurry up and look after you turn the screw to make sure you catch it at the beginning. Maybe on the second code you just read it wrong. Good Luck

Diagnostic Trouble Code 0407 indicates a malfunction was detected when...
A) 120 degree signal is not entered to ECM for the first few seconds during
engine cranking.
B) 120 degree signal is not entered to ECM during engine running.
C) 120 degree signal cycle excessively changes during engine running.

Possible causes...
- Harness or connectors
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
- Starter motor
- Starting system circuit

Perhaps a marginal starter would crank the engine at a non-uniform rate (fast-slow-fast-slow) and disrupt the normal rhythm of pulses from the CPS. This is consistent with the starter motor problems you have recently reported.

Re: DTC 0407

Thanks Daniel. I couldn't fix it so I'm on my way to buy a new one.
