3rd gen stereo install writeup? Anyone?

OK, so I am not a novice when it comes to stereo installs, but I am when it comes to swapping a factory BOSE HU with a sony double DIN. I purchased the harness for my 3rd gen max from Best Buy, is that all I really need (besides all the stereo wires of course?) Is there a decent writeup for this that someone could post? Thanks!

The car is a 91 Maxima SE, FYI, and yes I am replacing the entire system, not just the HU.

just match up the wires on the 2 harnesses, if you want you can reuse the bose wiring (use the smaller wires of the harness that goes to the bose in the doors and rear deck), do a battery test on the bose speakers to see which is +/-, i dont have a link that will tell you that right now, maybe someone will chime in, if you reuse the wiring, just leave the thicker wires (amp power and ground) out of the loop, or run new speaker wire..

Awesome. Thanks for the info and the link guys. Now my next question, what is the best way to bring my sub/amp power cable into the cabin? On my old 95 there was a small rubber passthrough above the clutch. Does this exist on the 91? (I am at work so I can't exactly go look right now...)

You can probably find a grommet somewhere. Or if you have an auto, easiest thing to do is drill a hole where the clutch plate is. On most cars theres rubber/foam insulation covering the firewall, and this usually has a cutout where the clutch would go. Best spot to drill.

Wow. I feel a sense of accomplishment. I totally wired my new stereo today. I even got my huge 4 gauge power cable through that tiny grommet in the fenderwell, by myself! It is fairly easy, just needs a little effort to poke it through. I am so happy, I can finally listen to CDs again!!!!!!!

If you ever want to later on, you can get a setup like mine. I originaly had a Bose s/DIN.. but I couldn't stand that flip down lid underneath it. Plus, when I installed my JVC, it was hard to open it. So I found a drawer version out of a 92 GXE. Pics are below in my sig. Look a lot better. Or you can do like some people, and use the coin/cup holder out of the Ford Taurus
