Attn audio SQ and SPL geeks
I recently blew out one of my MB Quart 6.5" component woofers for the front of my stereo. I'm surprised it actually lasted as long as it did. I'm running a Rockford 800A2 amp on those speakers (yes I know its more power then most people have on their subs). Anyway, I am running a 24 db/octave high pass on them at 90 Hz to loose the bass. I primarily need a speaker that sounds good, but also can play loud as ***** and be able to handle 200 watts of continuous power thrown at them (I need the stereo to get LOUD sometimes).
I've been running my Focals with 200w RMS for almost 3 years now. Actually, it's 250W if you count the fact my mids and tweets have dedicated 200 and 50W RMs amps.
These are the older 165KS Series (the kevlar cones). The newer ones have even better power handling, and if you go to the $$$$ line, they'll handle even more- but I doubt if you need to worry about that.
The only problem I've had with the speakers was the surrounds came unglued from the mids because of a bad batch of glue Focal had when they were produced. the Shop I bought them from switched them out, no questions asked.
(which is another good thing about Focal. the dealers REALLY stand behind them, and if there's ever a problem, it's fixed immediately).
