weird problem

so i'm still having a problem with my headunit. When i turn my car on the radio works fine. then give it about 10-20 seconds and it will cut off the highs, then a sec later the bass goes out. then after about 30 secs to a min they come back on. sometimes this happens twice in a row. i have 2 amps, 1 for my subs and 1 for the rest. I have an eclipse headunit. This doens't happen after driving for awhile to i know its not over heating. It ONLY happens when i start my car. i still can't figure this one out.

also...not sure if this has anything to do with it but i did notice that when i had my volume turned up kinda loud i pressed the mute button and i could still hear the song from the speakers int he rear at a very low volume for a few secs then that would also mute like it was suppose to.

The only thing I can suggest is maybe the internals of the hu are not working right

Does your HU do this when you crank the volume up to a high level during normal driving when the system "works fine", and what kind of amp's are you running (Brand and model) b/c some amp's are prone to switching into protection mode easily if your system is not running at correct ohm impedance's or for any other given reasons. What kind of HU are running also?

ya...audiobahng amp with a kicker sub wired at 2 ohms. 4 channel alpine few years old for the interiors. and clipse head unit. it has nothing to do with turning it up. it happens at low volumes and at high volumes. it only happens when i start my car though. after it comes back on and stays on..it doesn't matter how loud i turn it up it stays on.

Although this may have nothing to do with the problem, I though I would ask...what do you have your gain set at?

I would also recheck your wiring, it could be lose wire behind the unit.

my gain is maybe half or lower...i believe lower but its a pain in the *** to go and check because i have to remove my entire box. and the headunit was professionally installed because it is eclipse and i love the warrenty. i did however look at it and it all seems to be in place. i kinda suspect maybe it is the head unit because it never happened before when i had a POS hu. i'll chyeck the gain though...got nothing better to do. but how could the gain on 1 amp affect both?
