Maxima 2000 SE vs Lexus 2003 GS-300! Both cars bone stock, auto! What do you think guys who has a better chance? (50$ race)

 

sorry dude but gs-300 is 5spd auto. my friend has one and damn that thing is fast and shifts like crzy fast.

 

It's not even a matter of it shifting fast, it's a matter of the 5 speed tranny having optimum gearing vs the auto Max ...



Gs will win. Better go to the bank and pull out your $50.

 

sell your 5th gen, buy a 4th gen, and put on a VI and ECU, and you'll beat that boat of a lexus.

 

i dont know wa you guys are talkin about my friend with a 2k max auto beeten up alot of gs300...the 400 is a diff story... i got 50 bux on u

 

give it a shot should be a pretty close run, if u have to pull a down shift when u get in 3rd, drop that puppy down to 2nd for and extra pull of power, shift back up to 3rd around 6k rpm. good luck!

 

Guys I LOVE my f***ing MAXIMA!!! I just won 50$!!!! EASY!!!! It was a 3 blocks race (approximately 0.25 miles!!) His reaction time was better than mine! (shame on me!) But at the end of the first block I got this time back! In the middle of the second block my MAX just kick his ***!! At the end of the third block his Lexus was one car behind me!!! I’m so f***ing happy!!

 

Now his friend wants to race my Max on his Lexus IS300!! (50$ race)

Good kill. A properly driven stock IS300 (eshift) can run the 1/4 at 15.4 at about 91 or 92 MPH. Most drivers will probably get 15.6 - 15.8, if he forgets to turn off traction control and does not know how to launch the car well; then say 15.9 - 16.2. Use those numbers to judge if you can beat him.

damn i would race him for 50 bucks lol . i beat an is300 but i also ran a 15.2 and added a few mods so i dont know how fast they are but i beat him pretty bad

 

you'll pull on him, my friend has a lexus is300 and the low end is horrible but top end (highway) it pulls pretty nice. you've got him own all around, both low and high end.

 

i raced IS300 b4 i raced him till 75 and i was ahead of me 2 cars and i launched after he launched and i still beat him by 2 cars. me and my friend in my car and is300 had his g/f in the car too. i only have few mods.

 

ddue the 00 max is 222 horse .. the 02 is 255 ... more than 30 horse difference

02 is more like 240hp ... but with an as.s load more torque ...

Yes he did and he smoked it!!) He is a good friend of mine. That IS has intake and exaughst,lowered and I don't know if al of the IS models have it but that one has a Supra engine...So Maxima RULEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

This statement could be thrown out of proportion. It's like saying automatic 3rd gens have 300zx engines.

 

I don't know why but I think that GS-300 was more powerfull then IS-300!!!

lol, ya is300's aren't that quick in a straight line. i saw one run at the track with a cf hood as an only mod and he ran like a 16 flat. i videotaped the run along with nismo3112 who SMOKED the IS (ran a 14.0 @ 100 mph).

 

yup my max eats them up almost every other day on route 80 i love how the look on the "racers" faces just drop when i blow by em. So far i only got intake and exhaust im trying to get sponsored but no luck yet

No problem with either Lex, from a dead start but on the freeway they will get ya everytime.

My oo max 5 speed "RIP" always started falling behind at about 90mph

 

I'm pretty sure my 6-speed would hang with a 400 or 430. Arn't the 400's and 430's running low 14's?

NO WAY is a stock 02 max 6speed gonna keep up with a gs430 on the highway... 0-60 yeah no doubt but highway NO WAY. my boy had a 2k2 and now has a gs430 i ve driven both..... HOLY **** no way its a highway monster v8 300hp german power GONE.... BUT obvioulsy no match for the ROSEWOOD monster... i am boosted as i am sure u guys know.... we tried 3 diff times.... from 40 on from 60 on and from 100 on .... WOooop i waz ggggggoneeeeeeeeeeeeee

I agree, on the freeway they would run away from me, But I think I was talking 1/4 mile on this one. The big GS would probly still take me in the 1/4 but not by mutch. And yes I've drove quit a few of them. Good part about my job is all the cars I get to test drive.

Oh Yea! Did you say "German Power" Lexus=Toyota=Japan unless Lexus did something I'm not aware of

 

I know you guys aren't talking about the Lexus GS because the stock numbers say that in 2000, that car did not run faster than the Max, 5sp auto or not. The new 2006 GS300 doesn't run faster than the 6th gen Max either. Unless of course you have a feather foot and are scared of the jumpy Maxima throttle. I've found planting your head on the active headrest before smashing the pedal fixes that fear.

 

Apparently you weren't here a couple years ago when a member of our site in his 2k2 6speed raced a GS400 from www.clublexus.com on the highway video taped from 60+mph and it was a washup between the two.

 

well done. i test drove a GS300 a couple weeks back (was looking for a GS400, but they didnt have one). It was nice, but the performance was way behind that of my maxima. granted i have the 3.5, but still, the GS felt rather boatlike. I can't wait to try out the new IS350 tho...

 

I ran a 15.535 @ 89.88 at the track in my Eshift IS most recently. What do early 5th gens automatic run, 15.3 @ 89? The 4speed auto in the Maxima is garbage, which is why they are not as quick as they should be in the high-end. Then again, IS300's are not about drag racing, its about the turns.

 

I THINK 2000 GS 300 WILL GET SMOKED, AND IF THE MAX GOT THE VQ35DET I FEEL SORRY FOR DA LEXUS! HA HA HA HA!
