HELP - Best Way to Run Vacuum / Boost Lines
HELP - Best Way to Run Vacuum / Boost Lines
I think the best *** for me is to just redo all the vac lines.
I am running a PFI Turbo kit with a FMU, MEVI, Greddy Emanage with Profec e-01, and a stock FPR.
Any help or diagrams would be appreciated.
I wonder if I can call PFI? Whats their number and website?
edit: I found that out and talked to Bill.

I am thinking my boost sensor may be bad? The vac gauge reads -15, while the E-01 says -5.
I also emailed Nigel.
I am sure he has emailed others the diagrams though?
http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/ has good diagrams of the boost sensor and wastegate. I am thinking redoing everything may fix my issues.
I may need to confirm I am using the right ports on the WG etc.
Please share what the ideal setup would be and what best sourses to use for the vacuum.

Please help. I want to be able to tell the transmission guy over the phone (or fax) how it should be going. I will not have the opportunity to go out to the shop and do it myself at this point.
I know Nigel is out of the country, but I was hoping he may have some diagrams handy on a laptop or something.

The readings are probably in two different measurements. My boost gauge reads in Hkpa, wich is pretty standard. A normal vacuum gauge reads in in-hg. But 15 is a little low, should be closer to 20 in-hg. My boost gauge usually reads between -6.0-.7.0 at idle.
Also, try not to tap into a single vacuum line too many times, it is possible to get a false vacuum signal that way. For myself, the wastegate and FMU have there own line since if they get a bad vacuum signal then it could be disasterous. The boost gauge and BOV are not as important and can share a vacuum source. My vacuum sources include the line comming off the FPR, two off the vacuum hoses comming off the TB, and I also had some unused vacuum hardlines after my motor swap so I am using those instead of capping them off.

That is a good thought. I know the E-01 reads PSI in boost, but I guess I dunno what the vacuum is reading in. I really doubt the sensor is bad.
The FPR vac line is split like 5 ways to the FMU, boost sensor, MEVI, profec solnoid IIRC.
I believe the wastegate is on a seperate line, I forget, I am wanting to just redo it all. I wonder what source would be best for the WG and BOV? So pick a line under the TB for those?
I really wish I could fax the shop what I want. The tranny shop installed my MEVI awhile back, so I feel they are familiar with how the vac lines on that went. They are asking me for instructions/diagrams of how I want the vac lines ran with the turbo kit.
They used a diagram that Jay hand drew for my MEVI/SArd fpr install.
I kinda wish we would have left my sard FPR installed. During the turbo install we took my SARD FPR out and installed the stock fpr with a FMU. We were running out of time, so I think that is why.

There are tons of vacuum lines to choose from. I would do no more than two off the FPR, then there is one right off the Manifold, between the IAVC and TB. Mine is a bit different because it's an I30 and my vacuum lines are not exactly like a maxima's.
OK thanks for the info.
What should be on the opening with arrow pointing to it on the left hand side with the 2 paralell tubes? http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/man..._manual/11.jpg

That's where the vacuum line from your solenoid "out" on your boost controller goes to - it's what controls when you're WG opens.
I have the PFI set up as well and have had no problems t ing off the factory FPR with a hose 8 inches long then using a 4 way splitter then a 2 way splitter to run everything. I have the tial WG, BOV, FMU, Auto meter boost gauge, and a zeitronic boost sensor, all running off the same vac line. I tried using some of the lines from the upper intake but they never seemed to read right.
