Where do you have your car inspected?

Dealership or Independent garage?

I have my max inspected by a Firestone service station early this year and now I have found the beam next to the correct jack point were dented badly, which shown with red circle in the picture.
I believed the damage was caused by the Firestone moron mechanic who placed jacks under the wrong places. I will never ever let those morons from Firestone touching my car!!!

So, my questions are:
1.What can I do in this situation since the damage has been 3 month?
2.Will the damages cause any safety or performance issues?

I appreciate any help in advance! Thanks!

if you are worried take it to a dealership and ask them to check it out. then call the firestone store and explane the situation and see what they will do, if it is really expensive to fix, they prob will not do anything for you. The problem is, there is no proof they (firestone) did anything wrong, if you had pics right before it went in and then some right after... thats another story. however, you have nadda, and the burden of proof is on you.

Just call and you never know what might happen.

I put stealership right now only because i'm still under warranty. I'll most likely be taking it to my own mechanic when it runs out.
You have to admit though... although the dealership is much more expensive, i definately feel more comfortable taking my car there b/c they know our cars inside and out, as opposed to a "general" mechanic.

Since you have no clearcut proof that they did it, you are most likely SOL.

Kevon - please explain your post - it makes no sense.

What dont you understand? The question was "Where do you get your car inspected?" My answer was..... I dont. Give my boy $50 bucks a copy of the registration the total miles on my car written on a piece of paper & 2 days later when I see him he has my sticker. All while my car never left my garage. It is called a SCAM. My car would pass no problem but why risk it? Those machines are dangerous to all cars one slight slip of the wheels while they are spinning & bye bye Tranny/Axle.

They don't do that for '97 and above. They go through the computer

What kind of scam are you talking about? Did the original post say anything about passing any kind of test, or going on a "dyno" type machine? All the guy was talking about was an inspection. Which, unless you guys in the east coast do things differently, means he was getting his car checked out.

Does NY state inspection includes emission test? In PA includes both of them.

Exactly what I am worried. It's very unlikely that those morons would admit their fault. I have never had this kind of thing happen to me before. Probably my question should only focus on: Will the damages cause any safety or performance issues?

It really make me feel hopeless that those moron mechanic would respect other people's property. Probably the only solution is to monitor the whole process.

Luckily here in Norman we have an independent Nissan service shop that has great service and runs about $60/hr for labor. I take it there whenever I need to get it checked out.

Exactly........ if someone here on the eastcoast or in my neck of the city says "INSPECTED" it meens state inspection. Now if his question was where do you guys bring your cars in for "SERVICE" or to get "CHECKED OUT" my reply would have been different. Does that clear it up for ya?

If your mechanic checks it out with a magnifying glass...then it can be considered inspecting. Other than that, inspection means State inspection

OK, my bad, sorry for the confusion. I would like to make it clear. I meant state inspection also includes emission test in PA.

Can any of fellow org members answer the question: Will the damages cause any safety or performance issues? I appreciate any reply.
Thanks!

sorry to bring the post off topic. anyway, depending on how bad that beam is dented, i would bring it to the dealer. OR, find somebody you know or a friend of a friend, that can just glance at it real quick to let you know that the beam wont buckle in from the dent.
OR, if you bring it to firestone again..... be around when they jack it up. Then go running in there yelling they have it jacked up on the wrong points, then show them the damage

I had to relieve firestone of their duties with my old car (94 corolla) when they quoted me $200 more than the place across the street to fix something ( i forget what). I was like, dont touch it, ill be by in 5 minutes to pick up the car. never went back after that

Dealership, it's cheaper than most non-dealerships around here. $50 for inspection + emission and they really don't care about the fine details.

I used to go to any garage that was open because I'd usually go on the very last day.. and that's if I was on top of things.

I worked at a nissan dealership for a while and for some reason they hated giving stickers.. the machine was always "broken" .. so I try not to go.. so they don't get bitter for some bizarre reason and molest my car.

Now because my tint is too dark (MA law = 35) I have to get my buddy to get me one out the back door
