do they condition the leather also? 80$ isn't too bad, i've been calling around and been quoted as high as 200, but they claim to use 3 stage of polish and wax, condition the leather, shampoo the carpets, clean the engine bay and condition the hoses and belts.

I wouldn't try to find a full detail for $100. You'll almost certainly end up with someone who rushes through the job and uses fillers rather than actually removing paint defects. You should be able to get a good exterior only for that though. Expect to pay $150 and up for a good full detail.

didn't i say exterior in my post ?!? i think the guy Mark over there asked for $110 for interior only ... exterior that included wash + clay + polish and wax + tire dressing for $80 ...

oops i was thinking the entire car. i definitely need the entire thing detailed. barrington auto spa has a 20$ coupon on their website so the total is 175$...i wonder if they do a good job. does an exterior detail usually include a clay job too?

It changes shop to shop.

Shop around, see who offers what and try to see some of their work. DO NOT SHOP ON PRICE ALONE.

there is a guy who lives down the street from me who does awsome work on cars. So i stopped by to see what it would cost for him to bring life back into my car. he said he would wet sand it at 1500 grit(i think) then do a 4 stage buff job. he said that would be $160 and then since my door moldings arent in good shape(aka they are all faded and dont match the car) i figured i would get those done at the same time and he said to repaint those and detail the car it would cost $200. is that an ok deal or am i getting scammed.

Sounds alright for what he's doing, but you may not need wetsanding...that's pretty extreme and your paint would have to be in REALLY bad shape for that to be necessary. Post some pics of the paint.

Back From The Dead~

im in the chicago CITY area as well. Did anyone ever find a place that does a really good job.
I mean do they:
Repairing paint damage with auto polish (machine buff)?

Removing swirl marks, water spots and bird damage?

Fixing paint chips and scratches?

Paintless dent repair (PDR)?

the works.

If you're not opposed to driving to the city there is a place called purrfect yes puRRfect, on elston and montrose just north of irving park that i've been going to for my last four cars. They wash, buff, wax the exterior, shampoo and clean the interior (cloth or leather), and steam clean the engine then apply a coat of armor all to all your hoses and plastic under the hood. The last time i went it cost me $110. Good luck with your search if you choose not to check them out.

I do it, but I'd need a place to do it. I've been certified by Meguiar's twice (automotive and marine). For reference, here's a black WRX that I just debadged and buffed out. This car's paint was FUKKED. Swirls, light scratches... all fell mercy to the dual-action buffer, and a sh*t-ton of compounds/waxes. Took 7 steps, total.

I owed him $300... we called it even.

I typically charge $150 for that much labor. He decided to just call it even after seeing the final product.
