Help Me Build A System

A friend is buying a 98 audi station wagon and has asked me to help him come up with a system for it. I was wondering if you folks might help me come up with some ideas for him. Im thinking something by Eclipse for the HU. The rest is kinda up in the air. Thinking maybe Arc components. Amp and sub wise i've no ideas on yet. We'd like to keep the price between $1000 and $2000. I figure that sound deadening can come later since its a relatively new car. If you had between 1000 and 2000 dollars, what hu, components, sub and amp(s) would you get?

Thats quite a big price range, and no specifics as to his goal with the system...SQ? SPL?...will he be buying stuff online or at retail shops to get an idea of what he will pay for whatever he gets

edit: inevitably its going to come down to eclipse, arc, rainbow, etc. Id say Diamond amps since they wont put a hurtin on your budget as much as arc or others, but theyre still good. An Eclipse deck. And speakers and subs theres a million options.

To narrow the budget, lets say $2000. SQ is important, but SPL is also important. He wants it to sound as good as possible, but also be loud. Thanks for the ideas.

again a very broad statement, many systems can sound clean, and produce a good amount of spl. how much wattage would he like to be runing? something mind blowing or soft tonish??

good as possible?

2 gran would get you someting relatively nice and clean. if you want the best from a sub in terms of SQ ARC and Diamond are the way to go.

you could probably get a Diamond D9 12inch sub from a dealer from 450 to 500 dollars. then agan how many subs do you want? and how many amps? any interior speakers as well?

Actually Arc KAR amps are a bit cheaper than the Diamond D3s, considering theyre still both Zeff designs Id take the Arcs.

Thanks for the help guys...How much does an Arc KAR 900.1D run? And would it match well with an Ascendant Audio Avalanche 15"? What line of speakers from rainbow should I look at? Also, how much could I get an Eclipse CD5425 for? Again, thanks for the help.

Rainbow Soundline are best bang for the buck.

Ill be putting 1200 watts to my Ava 15, which is more than it needs. 900 would be very nice.

Though im not sure whether anyone will pay any attention to this...I'll try anyway. What are your opinions of:

Eclipse CD5425
Rainbow Sound Line speakers
Ascendant Audio Avalanche 15"
Arc KAR 900.1D for the ava
Arc KAR 400.4 for the speakers

opinions on how it would sound would be most appreciated. Also, any ideas on prices would be most helpful.

well, according to slickrick, his ava 15 hung with a W7 and got a little louder. can't go wrong with ascendant audio (i was gonna get a 12" ava, hence my user name...but i end up getting a sound splinter instead )

On the soundsplinter, just messing with gordon because slickrick, who told him to get the ava, and i, both have an ava 15. Slickrick was the first to have it, and mine will be going in shortly.

yeah, it's a good choice. very low distortion and apparently it can get quite loud given you have it in a good enclosure.
