Price for new exhaust for 4th gen?

I was under the impression that a 2.5 full exhaust would help me a lot. I went to a recommended muffler shop and the owner said "you will do great with 2.25 crush bent. Even with a supercharger that will be perfectly fine you won't really benefit from anything larger"

he says labor to put on a Y-pipe will be $150-250+ cost of the pipe and then

a 2.25 crushbent catback will be 550-600 including install.
Without a new cat and just for the bpipe it will be like 350-400

this seems a bit much and a bit uninformed to me.

Getting here a 2.25 crush bent exhaust system will cost me about $1000 installed including a new cat
------------------------------------------------------
I can go to warpspeed and for $630 shipped i can get a full MANDREL bent 2.5inch exhaust with everything included and the same nice magnaflow muffler. Then i just need to find someone who will install it for say $220 or so then i'm at the 850 mark and much better off. What seems logical to you guys?

ok, who ever you talked to is a moron, there is no possible way that a crush bent exhaust pipe will be better than a mandrel bent. Its just not logical. the airflow will be constricted so much more with a crush bent. Also 2.5 in has been proven to give some horsepower, and if you are boosted, you will def gain from getting a larger exhaust pipe. Who ever you talked to STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

You on the right track, how would he know you'll be great with a 2.25 crush bend?, does he know much about the Maxima? the Labor for a Y-pipe is a bit much for removing a few bolts and retighning them. Your in atlanta I'm sure there are a bump of locals that wouldnt mind installing the y-pipe for you, if I was up there I'd do it for you.

A warpspeed or greddy catback will be much cheaper and better replacement.

Y-pipes are very self-doable. I did mine in a couple of hours, since I was double checking everything. 160 dollars shipped from warpspeed.

I went to a local muffler shop and got quoted 410 for a custom 2.5" catback w/dynomax muffler. I opted not to do this because the price was high, and because the pipes would be pressure bent, not mandrel.

You can also get a mandrel b-pipe from budget for 200 and a dynomax muffler for 40 bucks from summitracing (i think). I'll be ordering the budget b-pipe soon to pair up with my new hks axelback.

So:

warpspeed y - 160
budget b - 200
muffler - 40
--------------------
total = 400 + welding the muffler on + (install).

the guys a f*ckin idiot and also tryin to rip u off. y-pipe installation... very self doable, w/ plenty of how to's around. b-pipe... couple of aftermarket 2.5 around for around $200 and also self doable. 2.5 provides better flow and mandrel bent is always the best. 3'' is where it becomes useless unless ur boosted.

only thing u need a shop to do is prob install a new muffler unless u have a welder or ur gettin a catback. Got mine installed for $45
