CEL after O2 sensors replaced, need help!!!

Guys, Threw a CEL with 0707, 0901, 1001, all O2 sensors. They were original, so no problem replacing them all. I reset the CEL and now I have the codes again. Re-read the codes (via ECU), got the same ones, reset them, and now they are back. What can I do? Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

Check the connectors to make sure they're on tight or just disconnect the battery overnight and let everythhing reset to see what happens

I hate to be the guy that breaks possible bad news - but the OP (turbolaw99) should go and check the O2 sensor fuses... IIRC they are in the fuse compartment inside the cabin... your sensors might have been fine all along...

Reset the ECU w/the 3 cycle method mentioned in another post. The fuses check out, but what I noticed is when I reset the ECU, wait 5 minutes and then start the car, no CEL, but when I then turn the car off and on again, you guessed it, CEL!!! What's the deal? Why would it come back on upon restarting the car? Thanks for the advice...

I wish I could offer some great, groundbreaking advice but if no one can offer any DIY help then you might have to suck it up and head over to your local Nissan Stealership.

Has your fuel efficiency dropped off significantly since having all these supposed O2 sensor problems?

what brands of o2 are you using. are connections, fuses, everything okay? did u turn ur ecu correctly?

i had a wierd case of o2 cel coming on, and its the 0707. i went down to ck and it was fine. i relate it going to THIS particular gas station. the 2 times my codes came on was after putting 76 gas and it happened a few mins of driving with fresh gas. i never believed it but those have been the ONLY TIME ever that the ecu came up. people here said i was crazy or that the sensor was hashed. i have 65k on my car, maybe it does need changing. but since resetting, it has NEVER EVER came back on again ever. though i will one day eventually ck my ecu for the code and then change my o2. cuz u know if its really a prob its mostly gonan come back up again.

i've been getting about 200 of mostly pure city driving. though my air filter is due for a change.

what gas u guys using, brand? octane? maybe changinge ur fuel filter can help?? call me crazy but its all related in some way. just my humble opinions and experience. cuz if people think they know so much, then why would CODES COME up w/ fresh brand new o2??? makes no sense right?? so seek out a connection within the system.

fuse is near ur left knee under the mirror controls...its a 15A

cheap sensor, go to the group deal section and look for the O2 sensor thread...and it's very easy to DIY

Tanks to njmodi and everyone that replied. When the CEL 1st came on, my fuse was fine. Replaced the O2 sensors and cleared the codes when the described problem resulted. I should have checked the fuse again, b/c that was it! Blown fuse, replaced it and no CEL! Simple is always best, and thanks for the help and for the humbling experience.

I hate to hi-jack a thread for my first post, but I have no choice. I just want to confirm that the P0155 Heated Front O2 Sensor is the one with the connector by the radiator and connected to the exhaust on the drivers side. Once again sorry to hi-jack this thread.

Haynes manual shows P0155 as front, left bank so it should be the radiator one

Would a blown fuse alone trigger the CEL? I just bought 3 brand new O2 sensors and i was unaware that there was a fuse there. I checked it and it was blown.

Yes - the fuse powers the O2 sensors - no power to the sensors means the ECU gets no readings, so the ECU thinks the sensors are bad and sets the CEL. Replace the fuse, reset the ECU and see if you get the codes or not.

It surprises me that we have all these O2 sensor fuses blowing... I would suspect that at least one or more sensors are failing (shorting out in some way) - o/wise I don't see what would cause the fuse to blow.

You might have a break in the main harness wires for that O2 sensor (not the harness that came with the O2 sensor, but the main harness in the engine bay that it connects to).

I had already replaced all three of my O2 sensors and I still had the code. Yesterday I checked the O2 sensor fuse that njmodi said to check and yes it was blown. I put in a new and cleared my codes and no CEL. Problem fixed, Thanks again.

It seems liche mechanics run away from these problems too. I am going through the same problems with code 1001 after replacing all o2's and KS. The manager of the shop now feels like maybe the harness could be the problem... **** that sheet
