VB mod vs. DR mod

ok guys, ive been reading a lot about the dr mod the last couple of nights. the idea came wen i saw some south florida maxima guys workin on a dr mod. kinda got me thinkin bout it...from wut i understand the dr mod does basically the same thing a vb mod does, am i correct? they dont actually perform the same exact actions but they both result in the same action, quiker shifts, tranny saving, etc. but heres my thing, if this were completely tru y would anyone in their right mind do the vb wen it costs a few hundred as compared to the dr wen its free?? i dont quite understand that one..so im asking u wut makes them different in a sense that some people prefer on over the other? does anyone know of any cons to either one...or any pros that give one an edge over the other based on experience? thanks guys...

There are more autos than you can imagine but pointless reposts are looked down upon these days.

almost every single thread is a repost. wut people fail to realize is that without "reposts" and if everyone checked the "stickies" every time they had a question there would never be ANY threads except "check out my new pics". although i agree with checkin the stickies, i do not frown upon reposts or noob questions because quite frankly...i dont care so i dont read them

The better question would be, why would you want to?

all i could tell from the other thread was that "if u have money get the vb", but i also know that jime is a firm believer in the dr mod, ive read multiple threads that hes been involved in. only use the dr at wot, but thats the only thing about it that ive heard, so it still baffles me y people would rather spend $400 bucks than nothing, 5 dollars at the most for a switch. to me it doesnt seem like theres anything wrong.

ive done the DR mod, it doesnt really make a difference unles your car has alot of work in it. basically it would be pointless if your car doesnt have that many mods

having few performance mods doesn't make it pointless... having sub-par suspension and rim/tires will not allow you to put the DR mod to good use. I noticed positive differences at the track, and the only performance mod I had was an intake... everything else was suspension, rim, and tire upgrades.

Thats true but I raced today with my throttle blocked at 60% for the full event and I still used the DR mod because it just shifts that much better/quicker and I believe its easier on the trans which is the main reason I used it, not to better my et. It doesn't jerk it just shifts much faster. I have it on a manual switch now because of my blocked throttle pedal but only because it too hard to mount it so it will go up and down as I adjust the throttle pedal. Thats also the only place I can block it because its drive-by-wire.

Why am I racing at 60% throttle? Well I am a bracket racer and trying to be more consistent and thought I would try less power. I still ran a 14.4 @ 94. Made it down to the last 4 and after I staged I torqued it up and pulled myself over the line and redlighted. Arrrgh!!! Oh well many more races to come. Getting old and don't have enough strength to hold the brake down I guess.

Ran into a young fellow there with a 300zx and it was his first time at the track. So I coached him a bit and explained how the bracket racing worked etc and he made it to the 3rd round, he was pretty happy. BTW it ran a 15.6.

PS My homepage is up now and also the dr pics, my server went down when I was away racing for the weekend.
