Auto-Start...what do you think??

I'm moving to a townhouse community and was thinking auto-start might be more safe when warming my automatic '01 AE Max in the mornings rather then starting the car and leaving it unlocked.

Opinions, past experiences, set-up or brand, potential installers around the Northern VA area....basically any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well I'm in central Alaska so an auto start is must here. I have a Viper auto start/Alarm and I love it. It comes in handy on those -40, -50 degree days.

i have my auto start for 4 years and I love it. The ony thing I don't like and maybe its my system is that your heater or ac is not on until you put the key in the ON positions. Is this the same for everyone else

I have had the Clifford IntelliStart 4 module as part of my alarm for 5 years now. There really aren't any negatives to doing autostart. The only thing is that to get past the built-in security of needing a chip in the key, you will have to either remove the chip from a key and place near the ignition or use one of the transponder bypass modules and one of your keys. If you go that route, the more conventional method, cut the key so it can't be used in the car anymore in case anyone finds it. Besides that, you're good to go.

Well I have the Viper 791 and I had a Scytek Galaxy 2-way before that and as long as my heat/air was already on, it comes on when the car is auto start. One thing I don't like now that didn't happen with my previous set-up is my stereo coming on when the car is auto started. Now if I start my car I can here the system outside if I left it on with the volume up.

Autostart is awsome, idk how i lived through the winters without it. it also turns the car off after like 20 mins, just incase you forgot you started it, mine is run of the stock keypad, just hit lock 3 times and it starts the car, hit lock 3 times more and it turns it off. i use it at car shows alot to show off my angel eyes, since they are wired into the parking lights and the parking lights go on with the auto start.

4yrs+ compustar alarm w/ autostart... no issues here... u might wanna add the roll down/up modules if your in a good safe neighborhood....autostart + roll windows down + AC = all hot air gone...wait like 5 mins, then hit the roll windows up....then it's all good... =)

Yeah, it is your system... ;-)
Maximas have 2 Accessory wires, you need them both hooked up. Looks like you have only one. Had the same problem... fixed it next day. i installed it myself though.

hmm the whole remote starter? ...
depends... it took me whole day. including getting parts, making extra key and programming it etc. i did some installs before. actually I put one in in my mom's car ( no immobilizer) and it took me only 20 minutes. Actual install time in maxima.. 6hrs. Now I would probably get it done in 2. Not so hard if you know what you're doing. and you're not afraid to cut wires.

I have the 791xv with the 555u remote start module and love it. I have had 0 issues. I def recommend DEI's products. You will get a ton more responses if you have this moved to the Audio forum.
