Error Message on stock CD player.

Hi everyone,

Question, when I try to play my CDs in the stock CD player I get an error message that says, "CD ERR FO". (SE 2002).

I have no idea what this is? The CDs wont play at all. The manuel says something about the CD player not working right if there is to much hummidity outside (pg. 4-14). It has been hot and humid here in NJ for the last few weeks. (Why the weather would affect the CD player at a all is beyond me, but that is what the instruction manuel says).

Any suggestions????

(sorry if this is a repeat thread...)

Not at all, no burned CDs in my collection. (I am a little behind the times, still buy all my CDs).

It's dead. I was getting the same error from a 6-disc that I bought from an ORG member. It wouldn't even open up the loading tray. CD ERR F0 was all it kept on displaying. Reseting it did nothing, all it would do is just shuffle through the CD docks and then display the error again. I was pretty pissed off.

I had the same problem (also an 02 SE), though I got the CD changer replaced under warrenty. However, once in a while, when its cold or just plain bad luck (did it just the other day on a long trip), I get the stupid error message and the player attempts to play the next cd (but, unlike the one I had replaced, this new one does play the next cd...don't know why?). I've noticed that it usually occurs when I change from any CD to CD 3 or 5 (as if the mechanism that switches the cds inside the player has some kind of design flaw or something...because after two or three ejects and reloads it plays the same cd I get the error with just fine). I've also been unfortunate enough to replicate the problem with both "home made" and store bought cds! I guess it was just badly engineered.

ok the same thing came up on my 2000 max, and yes we have our share of humid days...it almost always works no matter the circumstance BUT the error message has come up about a handful of times and it happens when i have the ac on high and all of a sudden roll down the windows and of course it gets everything near the deck damp and the cd player wouldnt work....i guess the lens or something gets foggy in there im not sure but it has happend also at the beach and even just when i start the car if its humid outside, the best thing to do b4 u buy a new deck or nething is to close ur doors windows and keep the climate control on a moderate temp then try it...if that doesnt work just wait till its not humid outside and is the same temp as outside or a normal temp in a garage or nething, just try it i bet you it will work, it did with mine.

I had the same thing pop up on the used stereo that I bought when I just installed it for the first time. I called Bose and got forwarded to Clarion (in a case you did not know it is actually Clarion that makes them and Bose just slaps their name on them, this is the case for most "Bose" stereos, you can see Clarion name on the labels once you pull it out). Anyway, I was told that the error means CD loading mechanism is busted and it costs ~$200 to fix. If you get it done by Clarion you get 30 days warranty and if you get it done at the dealer (will cost you the same and they send it to Clarion) you'll get 90 days and 20K warranty...

As Maxrider said, I would imagine they put a better radio/cd deck in the Maxs'...My problem is when I want to insert a disc into an open slot, y doesnt the deck continue to play the current cd and load the new one...

But oh well, really not paying attention to the radio when I bobbin and weaving in and out of traffic...lol
