fuse prob
Hey my tail light fuse keeps blowing...I've tried putting bigger fuses in it...but then it would blow my dashlight fues under the hood. Then I don't have dashlights or tail lights Does anyone have any idea of what's going on???? I can't drive my car at night without getting stopped by the cops...

I had this problem when I got the new CE red/clears. You can pull the bulb-harness out of the tails without removing the entire tail. It's really easy. Just twist the socket and pull it out.
Do this as a quick potential fix:
1) Pull each light out of it's socket and put it back in (making sure they are aligned with the metal "dimples" in the sockets). Believe me, it can be that stupid of a thing that's causing your fuse to blow.
2) If that doesn't work, then there may be a wiring issue. To isolate which of the four tail-light sections is causing it, do this: a) Buy package of the CORRECT size fuses, you will need them for trial and error. b) Remove the bulbs from one part of the taillights at a time. Leave the bulbs out. Now turn on your lights and see if the fuse blows. When you pull the light bulbs out and the fuse works fine, you have found your culprit! c) pull the wiring harness out of that section and inspect it. If there is an obvious defect, like a frayed wire, just fix it. If it's not obvious, then just order a new harness and you will be good to go!
Good luck!

thanks...I'm just pulled all the bulbs out and check them...I saw 2 that could have been a problem...but I'm going to go ahead and replace all of them...and I checked my cefiro wiring...and that was fine...except for the wire I accidently pulled off...and now I have to get it fix...now I have to check my fog lights...but even when the fuse is blown...the fog lights still work...only the clearance lights and the tail lights stop working when the fuse is blown...so I'm guessing it's something dealing with those two

Sorry. I should have been more clear. It's highly unlikely the bulbs themselves are causing the problem. However, if the bulb is sitting in the socket a little funny it can cause you to blow the fuse. The other likely cause is a problem with a wiring harness on one of the lights.
The taillights have 4 pieces (two on the trunk and two on the body of the car). My suggestion was to remove the bulbs from just one section and see if that solves the fuse-blowing issue. If so, then you know that single part is causing the problem. Now you can check the wiring in that taillight and check the plugs to see if there is any visible problem.
The bulbs themselves should not be the problem...
Oh yeah, do the same with the clearance lights. Especially if they are aftermarket clear corners. People have had issues with them not being water-tight and having the bulb-socket corrode.
Good luck. If you eliminate one light at a time you should be able to isolate which part of the wiring (or which socket) is causing the problem. THem you can try to repair that wiring or order a new wiring harness for just that light.

ok I did all that...actually I check the wire harnesses before I did all that...they are the tyc tails...so they came with the different harness...so I checked those...then I did a section at a time...I drove around the block...b/c before...as soon as I put the fuse in and turned the lights on it blew. I actually replaced all the bulbs...so I know I don't have a bad one...put the fuse in and drove for like 5 mins or so...and it didn't blow...so hopefully whatever I did fixed the problem...I'll find out tomorrow night....I have a smart fuse in it now...so if it blows and I'm driving...I'll know I don't have any tail lights....and if everything is all cool...I'm making everyone some cookies...so what's your favorite cookie....heheheh
