Sunroof Interior slider stuck in roof! help!

The interior slider part of my sunroof went back too far and now i can only open the glass half way cuz it gets stopped by the sliding roof part which gets stuck in the roof behind the glass. I can fetch the sliding part when the glass is fully closed but i cant pull it all the way forward, it gets caught near the back of the glass. Any ideas how to get the interior roof sliding part back to where it is supposed to be?

Thanks,

Devin

Your best bet would probably be to take the headliner down and go from there, but you probably already knew that and were looking for an easier way. Good Luck!

I had this problem on my previous Maxima and had it checked out at a body shop. It turned out to be a broken clip on the interior cover and they told me that they could fix it for around $100, or just take the cover out completely & charge me $10 for labor. That was 5 or 6 years ago so I'm sure the cost is a little higher now.

get a thin metal yard stick and a flashlight. There are little metal pegs that you need to push in with the yardstick on each end of the shade.

Once you hook the ends with the yardstick just pull really hard and it should slide out. Then remove it and replace the ends. nissan sells a repair kit I think

sounds great, but where am i looking for these pegs, are they on the shade itself? if so are they toward the front of it or toward the rear? as of now the shade is catching near the front of it, but it is barely visible as most of it is inside the roof.. Thanks for your help... i will keep trying in the meantime.

They are on the sides of the shade. Two mounts with 2 little pegs. One mount is in the front of the shade. The 2nd is in the back.

Its a real tricky thing you have to do. I've also used a wire hanger once. The trick is to get the pegs in the slides, or totally off the sunroof. Once you do this, the thing will slide right out.

You might end up having to remove the headliner. That's the only way you might keep some of your sanity.

ok so i attempted this yardstick thing for about 30 seconds before i decided i wouldnt be able to do it...

so i got frustrated, grabbed the shade on both sides and just yanked it real hard...
it kinda "popped" and flew all the way forward where it should be.. and BINGO! workes perfectly! apparently the shade was just on the wrong side of the catches and now it is on the right side. i sure am glad i didnt take down the headliner! Thanks for all the help guys.
