RPM Gauge working intermittently

I recently installed a white dial cluster in my 97 GXE only to have the tachometer work intermittently. The other 3 guages work perfectly, and occasionally the tach would as well, at first. However now, it very rarely works correctly. Instead the needle will very slowly work it's way around the dial, even while in park or idling.

When I got the cluster I noticed it was a bit dusty/dirty on the back, and I cleaned it a bit, but now I think perhaps I should have been more thorough.

Any ideas besides jerking it back out and giving it a thorough wipe down to ensure good contact b/n the wiring and cluster?

How do you get to the needles because I got the same problem. If I get to them I probably can fix them.

That link will tell you how to get to the gauge and needles.

As for my problem, it is still just the tach acting up and it hasn't reverted to working in over a week now.

I have the same problem. The tach works intermitently, but most days it just goes around the dial. I have noticed that the tach will work if I don't let the car "warm up" and just drive it, But as soon as I turn it off, and restart well.

mine does the same darn thing. Although now I am throwing CL's left and right...nine the other day. I'm wondering if this is electrical somehow?
