Opinion on Sun-Gard brand window tint?

*Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I didn't know what section this question belonged in.

I've been wanting to tint my car for some time now, but all the places in NJ are $220+. One of the shops back in Indiana where I go to school charges $175 for all around at 30%. But they use Sun-Gard metalized film as opposed to Illumar and 3M.

Does anyone have experience with Sun-Gard? Is it an inferior/cheap film? Thanks

never heard of it but i though llumar was the best, until a few tinters around my area said that its not used any more. just make sure its metallic and dont use anything with ammonia on your tint like windex. since your car is silver you should get the platinum tint or the faded one.

I too haven't heard much of them previously. All the tint shops in NJ/NYC use Illumar or 3M.

you sure about that fading.. i have had sun-guard for 6 years on my max and it has only faded 1% to 6 %
its better than Llumar that crap fades in no time
get the metalized and you wont have any problems. i just got my Z tinted with the
metalized sun guard. 5 %

Come up here, the local shop does it for less than $200 and warranty it against peeling or bubbling for 3 ears.

OK, thanks for the feedback. The shop is charging $175 for all 4 windows+rear windshield, and they use Endurance Slate. Guess I'll give them a try.

When I had the shop take off the Sun Guard tint that was on my car and compared it the Llumar tint that they were replacing it with, the Sun-Gaurd tint film was very cheap feeling, almost like cellophane, whereas the Llumar had a nice thick quality feel to it.

Thats just my opinion......

I highly recommend Grafik Dezine out in Deer Park for any tint work. Def. worth the drive!

i recommend Onyx brand tints, they have amazing heat rejection, the black colors all look pure black no purples and no fading that I ever noticed
