Changing rotors/pads - Am I going to have to bleed the brakes?

Just like the title states...I haven't seen anywhere in the Haynes manual, or on motorvate that says that after replacing rotors and pads that you are required to bleed the brakes. So do I have to bleed the brakes, or am I ok not to? Thanks.

Why would you? Are you going to remove the lines from the calipers during this? If you are, you're doing it wrong. Unless you want to bleed them?

How many miles on the car ?? It may be good to Change the fluid which would include a flush and a bleed at the same time to get all new Fluid in the lines. Brake fluid should be changed, and what better time to do it when you have the car up, and doing work on it. It only takes a few extra minutes, and is worth it

No you don't have to. I just replaced my front rotors and pads and didn't do it and they work perfect. Like Matt said though if you haven't changed your brake fluid then would be the time. Good luck with the brakes. They're really easy, except I broke off the last caliper bolt tighting it too much at 1AM.

some ppl say if the braking feels squishy, then you probably have air bubbles in the lines and then need to bleed it. i mean it wont hurt if you do it

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't skipping a crucial step before taking my car out on the road for a test drive.

buy speedbleeders and bleeding brakes would be a breeze, Brake fluid should be flushed every 12 months.

standard procedure to flush brake system everytime you work on a brake system. when you pushed back the piston back into its bore, i hope you opened the bleeder to have the fluid come out instead of pushing it back towards the master cylinder. dirt and crap like to build up behind the caliper bore, and pushing it up towards the master cylinder can cause some problems especially if you have ABS

put it this way..

i had my bleeder loose, and it was making my fluid DRAIN. all i did was top off and tightened it. still NO MUSH, no nothing. u would think it sucked air in. it mightve, but for 1-2 years, my brakes have always been good.

i know i will do a bleed/flush though, but i rather just do it after i change pads and rotors.

where is this "bleeder" of which you speak? to push the piston in, I have to use needle nosed pliars, twist and push?

By the way... My slider pins were seized like unreal. used a torch to heat them and they finally came out.
