Question about dome light (bcm schematic)

I am trying to troubleshoot my dome light not coming on with the doors problem. I have been able to eliminate the BCM from the equation by running test with volt/ohm meter. I have narrowed it down to this R1 junction that is shown in the FSM pg 277. The pic is below:

I am trying to figure out what is R1, where is it located, what it does, etc...

Any insight would be awesome, thanks.

the R1 junction is a connector. the wire you are pointing at is the one that is controlled by the BCM (Body Control Module) that is located on the transmisssion hump behind the center console. the BCM sits on top of the TCM (Transmission Control Module).

i don't know exactly where the R1 junction is located. all you can do is trace wire harnesses. follow the red/white stripe wire from the dome light down the windshield pillar on the drivers side and back trace from the BCM pin 5 towards the windshield pillar. it ain't gonna be easy.

i was reading the page in my fsm about the dome light coming on and its scary. the circuit that tells the BCM to turn on the light goes through the drivers door lock, the ignition switch and all kinds of things. i sure hope the BCM is grounding the bulb.

Thats the problem, its not grounding the bulb...

I am installing an aftermarket alarm, so I think I will run the dome relay from the alarm module straight to the dome light to save me the hassle.
