Any negative effects on running no thermostat

I will have no heater core so i was planing on running with no thermostat. Is there any reason i shouldn't do this?

If you do not run a thermostat, the engine will never reach proper operating temps. The T-stat in my car stuck open once. The car would not heat up once the car got up to speed. When stopped, the engine warmed up just fine. But, once under way, it cooled right back down again.

Running too cold causes the engine to get terrible gas milage -- the computer thinks the engine is still warming up and feeds in extra fuel...

+1 To what he said. It also causes accelerated internal wear since there's MORE internal friction when the engine is below operating temp.

I wonder if i could get a much smaller radiator and run no fan if i could keep the temps around 150. This is not going to be a daily driver mainly a track car. So if i can shed some weight this way i will.

Removing the thermostat only sheds a few ounces from the car's weight. Getting a smaller radiator would only save a pound or two. As others have said, this is a false economy because the engine will run rich and have greater internal friction thus reducing your power. You would get better returns by fasting for a day before a race.

also w/o a thermostat, your heater wont blow hot air or not hot enough air while moving.
