Just curious if anyone has a bug deflector on their max... i am looking for one for a 96 and am not sure how it would look because i cannot find one. I live in maine so the winter is harsh on the hood... all the dirt is kicked up and is basically like a sandblast. thanks

Bug deflector - be very careful!!!

I added a specific-to-the-car aerodynamic bug defelector to my 99, for the same reasons you want one.

IIRC, it was a GTS brand, molded in clear plastic, and looked gorgeous out of the box, fit nice too at first.
Kind of snapped under the leading edge of hood, and used 3 "pads" of clear velcro to stay put - no drilling.
But...

It trapped dirt, leaves, crap behind it, and in NO TIME AT ALL, this trapped crap and the flex in the plastic itself caused a sanding of the paint in several areas of the hood.

Now I am slowly working on removing the 3 velcro pads stuck to my hood, while living with the scartches and an otherwise useless bug deflector.

If I had it do over, I'd use that 3M clear plastic "wrap" and put a strip along the leading edge of the hood.
Be careful!

I agree you either take it off everytime you wash it or it does damage... My wind deflector on the sunroof did the same thing now it is gone...
