does ne1 own a 6SPEED 05-06?
does ne1 own a 6SPEED 05-06?
Just curious,
I have 3 stealerships around my area, none of them have in stock not one single manual transmission maxima to test drive?
What is your impression on the Manual Tranny 6 speed?
Can the max 6 speed take out a Acura TL 6 speed in 1/4 mile?
why did you get a 6 speed? Why do you regret having one?
So anyway a dealer said if i wanted to test drive a 6 speed maxima, i would have to buy own. I laughed.

I just talked to a guy last night thats got an 05 sprited bronze 6spd that was recovered theft --- its missing the wheels, some of the dash pieces, and hit light on the drivers side door (from a police car ram bar)
Needless to say he didn't have insurance on it and wants to recover some of his money --- I ooffered him 10,500 but he told me to get f**(k'd --- think he wants 15k or so

I have an 04 with the 6 speed, and would not have it any other way, I have driven a new tl with the auto and my max seems to pull a bit better, of course it has a much better gear than any auto setup. The biggest thing that I notice is that the car pulls hard through all the gears except for 6th. Without a doubt I would recommend a 6spd!!!!
I work @ a dealership, and have driven the 6speeds multiple times. They are very rare though. We normally keep 10-15 maximas and we seem to get one 6spd every 5-6 months. I love them, the throw is a little long, but still fun to drive. Although they dont feel as quick, or fun as a 5.5 6spd. although Hondas FWD 6spd in the TL is as perfect as a FWD manual can get, and the 6spd TL does have standard Brembos....
Just picked up my new '05 6MT yesterday. I'm keeping my 4th gen. I-30t, which had a five speed. They had to bring the car from a stealership 100 miles away. I bought it without test driving it, though I had driven the 6MT Infiniti G35 (which is smaller inside than the Max, but same engine).
The 6 speed feels strange compared to my 5 speed. How long did it take you guys to get used to it? The first few gears seem like they're too close to each other. Feels like I'm already in third by the time I'm 20 feet off the line with normal traffic driving.
I figure it always takes a little time to get used to a new clutch and shift configuration.

Did you try going to www.nissanusa.com, then searching the inventories of dealers around you? If they have none, then change the zip code to the next state over and search all of that state's dealer's inventories. Alternatively, you can put in the specs for the car you want, and choose the "Ask This Dealer To Locate One" option.
I just checked the Nissanusa site. Check out the dealer in Springfield, NJ. It looks like they have a stick or two in 2005.

I bought mine last tuesday, I didn't even bother driving the auto, and i lucked out, they had the exact one at the dealer black 6spd, frost leather, xenons, so i bought it!!! This car is fast, but i find it a little rough to drive with traction conrtol on, i usually turn it off, shifts smoother personally off then on!!! oh well

I also ordered the Blackfire New Car Kit from www.properautocare.com. Hope to keep the paint job on this car silky smooth always.
If you just got your Max, did you see that the Speed Sensitive Volume (SSV) on the stereo is turned off? You need to turn it on with the settings menu. I set mine in the middle and it works really well. No need to keep turning down the stereo when I get to a stoplight.
Just bought a 6speed MT last week. Totally in love with it! I see you live in Hillsdale, NJ. I picked mine up in Jersey City. I happen to know that the stealership up in Newburg, NY has one on the lot.... well they did as of 2 weeks ago. Try to give them a call.
I agree exactly with this: "I have an 04 with the 6 speed, and would not have it any other way"
I don't know why Nissan does not build more with this trannie. I had to go looking (on the net) at what was available at other Colorado dealers to find my car.
The question was why get a 6 speed manual trannie. The simple answer is control, control, control.
Yes, the auto trannie lets you choose the gear you want -- sometimes. At other times it will not give you the gear you want.
In snow I like to start in second gear to reduce torque at the wheels -- and thus wheel spin. Auto does not allow this.
I live in the foothills west of town and need to go down about 1200 feet to get to town and climb the same hill coming home. The manual allows me to get better engine braking going down hill (without stressing the trannie like gearing down in an auto trannie) and gives me the correct gear for climbing on the trip home.
But in the end it all comes down to control. You get the Max control with the manual trannie in your Max.
There was a complaint about the gears in the 6-speed being too close together (in gear ratio). That is true, but the way the trannie was designed -- to get the best engine to gear ratio when used on the track. If I had control over selecting the gear ratios, I would make first slightly lower in ratio and 6th slightly higher in ratio and spread the other gears between these two. With the current gears, 6th gear at 2 K RPM get you 55 MPH and at 3 K RPM gets you 82 MPH. I would have it get you 62 MPH (100 kph) at 2 K RPM. This would be more like an overdrive gear than the current 6th gear ratio. But those who run the Max at the track should be very happy with the gear ratios.
