15" steelies WILL NOT clear 02 calipers

I got some smaller 15" wheels for the drag strip but low and behold the front outer edge of the brake calipers rubs against the wheels! My 00 gxe had steelies and did not rub, so I guess the rotors are a bit beefier on an 02. The steelies have really nice tires on them and I would hate to throw them away. I like the black look of the steelies as well. What to do? What to do?

Samething happened with me, I was going to put on my brothers 15" rims that came with his 96 maxima, but they will not clear the rotors. 02-03 brakes are bigger, thus being the reason that it will fit on the 00, and not the 02. Maybe some wheel spacers will make it work, but don't hold me to it, im not 100% sure if that will do the job.

I took a grinder to the outside of the calipers and ground them down so the wheels would fit. Pretty easy to see where they are touching by the marks on both the wheels and the calipers.

There is enough metal on those calipers you could take a 1/4" off and still have too much.

Grinder? Sounds brutal. I like it Thanx Jime

Edit: How much did you have to take off in your case?
