Should I do it????

Ok, here's the question. I love my '03 Maxima. The dealer I work for has a left over '05 Altima SE-R black on black 6-spd...They desperatly need to get rid of it to get more '06s (car has been on the lot for 8 months). should I get rid of my '03 SE-TE auto w/ 23k for it, or just keep the max and put some more into it???? Just want your input...or if you'd like to buy the Altima, I'd be more than happy to sell it to you lol

If you can get a good deal on your trade and the Altima, I'd go for it.

Despite all you guys saying to get this Altima, I think you should keep you car. I mean what’s so good about that Altima that your max does not have? The only advantage Altima has is that it’s 2005 and has 0k. 23k difference is nothing, and your Maxima has proven to you (I hope) that it’s a good reliable car. If I were you, I would not do that.

The stick shift would be a motivator for me. I love my Maxima but mine is a 6, but if I had an auto one I would probably do that if the numbers on the Altima were good. Same *** kicking motor, independent suspension and light weight are good things. Take all your transferable mods off and see what you can weasle out of those slimy saleguys. I would imagine they already know you have a Maxima to trade. My .02

From: Auburn WA,
I say stay with the MAX...More options, kinda like getting a Type R instead of a GSR! The car will be a little faster on the staight and the turns, but it will not be a nicer car! (gurenteed)

If what you want is a sports car then get a 350 or G35 but if you are going to stay with a 4 door sports sedan then stick with the MAX!

In the long run you will be happy, Probly 2 months from now when you realize wich car was nicer.

Choose as you want....

I'm not understanding your analogy here, but ok....Nicer is a subjective thing and how are you gonna guarantee that if you are not in his shoes? Have you driven or even sat inside a SE-R? Personally, I like the new Altima interior better, the guages look nicer, it handles so much better than a stock Max. I agree, go test drive the thing, if you like it and you feel it's a financially sound decision, I say go for it.

I sat in the se-r at my dealer and the car is awesome inside and out, but i don't believe its worth trading your make in for...Like someone said if you really want an sports sedan then get g35. I can't believe they wanted $32,000 for an altima. whoever pays 32,000 for an altima is an idiot...........I don't care how much cosmetics nissan put on the car its still an altima....

My friends brother was buying a new 05 Max 6spd here localy and the dealer was trying to get them to buy a SE-R for 24500 plus taxes. You can get a SE-R for really cheap- they don't sell many of them. Most sold model is the 2.5S which is comparable to a V6 Camry, but for thousands less.

The se-r is really nice inside and out, I doubt anyone paid full sticker on that i think my cousin weasled away one for 26gs. But since you work there you would get it for less than that.

The SER is set up like a sports car , does it have leather heated seats, heated steering wheel, steering wheel radio and trip meter, I havn't sat in one but I am sure the options are less.

But ya, Drive it it you like it better get it.

I would wait for the "updated" SE-R...meaning less problems.

I test drove one and I'd go for it. Although the Maxima has more options the Altima SE-R is quite fast and obviously has lower kms. Plus I love the seats and gauges!

By and large the two cars are very similar. True the Altima has an independent rear end which is a big plus, but aside from that the rest is mostly aesthetics. I would analyze the situation purely on a cash flow basis. Does the swap make financial sense. If the answer is yes, then do it. If not, then don't.

I like both cars. Havent driven an seR but I own a 04 and 02 maxima. Im sure my 04 is more comparable to the SeR than the 5.5 gen and I like mine a tad better because of the suspension and interior setup. Either way your still going to own an awsome car.
