The local airport closed down this past saturday and were letting us run 1/4 miles un-timed. I finally got my JBars installed and working with no real problems.
So, I got to run 3 times. Went 3-0 with NO wheel hop. I have 152K on factory bushings, with Tein S.Techs on KYB set at 3. I was very suprised I didn't have any wheel hop, which is usually what messed up all my runs. Launched at 2-3K on my 18's. Good mod for anyone with wheel hop at the strip. for those lowered more than 1.5", some simple grinding might be necessary.

 

I just heated my passenger side bar up and bent it a bit to clear the oil filter more. I'm not lowered more than 2" but it seemed to work fine. I get no wheel hop now either, although if there's no traction you'll still spin. haha.

 

Yeah gives you clean wheelspin in 1st, you can almost hear the drivetrain letting out a sigh of relief, and I'm ok in 2nd.

What did you have to grind exactly? I didnt get a chance to put mine on yet and my wheel hop is pretty bad even with all the motor mounts filled. Im not too sure how much im lowered but I would think more then 2" on D2s.

 

I was wondering JClaw how much they cost, I might want to get some for next years track season.

 

Above where you bolt it to the control arm, there is a bottom of a bolt that looks like where the suspension subframe bolts to the chassis. Leave your e-mail and I will send you some pics. Anyone that is low should have this problem...although i'm no expert

 

There was a rumor going around that these traction bars mess up the handling on the maxima which is the main reason why I haven't decided to get any. Is this true? Have you guys tried taking any sharp corners with the new traction bars?

 

News to me. I have had mine on for just over a month now and if anything it handles a bit better, certainly didn't mess anything up.

oh ok. I forgot who said that it messes with the chassis a little. But I'd much rather believe the guys who have been using it for a while. Might be my next mod after a new clutch and ecu since there's so much wheel hop.

 

Like they said, the front of the car feels more solid, which is a plus for me, since I can't put on a front strut bar due to the VQ35's rather tall cranial region.

 

you have a stage 1 and 2 right? How much for these?

 

No stages. I was thinking of a similar torque arm to hold the engine under load a while back but due to how cramped the engine bay is that's not likely. The traction bar set goes for 199$ including shipping.

No, it's not the same.

 

You would have to bore out the hole in the control arms in order to make it work with a 5th gen.

Well I got the traction bars and I have ES motor mount bushings. And the last time I went to the track I got wheel hop everytime. It could be attributed to my tire pressure but I figured that tire pressure wouldn't make a difference with this mod.

 

what rpm did you launch? 5-speed?

this mod should only make the front much better keeping the car more stable (more stiff connection in the front end) completes the geometry is you have the strut bar (upper bar) lower tie bar (lower bar parallel to FSTB). these bars join the rectanglar front end "box" (formed by strut towers, the FSTB, and LTB) with the front end of the car, keeping the control arms stationary at all times, therefore making the front significantly stiffer, giving you better turning/ and nicer highway driving

 

Yes I'm a 5 speed and I launched at either 2500 or 3000. And I would get wheel hop. Then when I would shift to second gear I'd hop some more. When I went before I the J-bars I got it down with rarely getting wheel hop. So I figure with the j-bars I could launch a little more aggresively but then come to realize I couldn't even launch where I normally did. I want to attribute it to my tire pressure but they were only at 30psi so I would think the j-bars would be able to deal with it. I'm not bad mouthing this product, just simply telling my experience. Next time I go I will make sure to lower pressure some to see if that really was the problem.

 

JClaw can you send me some pics 93SER@comcast.net, I am interested in seeing these things, I might buy them for my 5th gen. And then I need someone like Neal to run my **** box down the 1/4 as I am not John Force when it comes down to drag racing.

 

I'm about to change the type of tubing I use so when I get pics of the updated version I'll post them. Thinking of doing a group deal to get the price down a bit, see if there's enough interest. I could sell them for considerally less if those spherical rod ends weren't so damn expensive.
