Street Scenes/Stillen grill painted black?

what do you guys think about that? my car obviously has the "smoked" theme going on, so putting an aluminum grill on it will look goofy. but what about a black SS grill, upper and lower, or maybe just upper? will it ruin the clean look of the car, or add to it? i was thinking black, but someone also suggested body color, but i dont think i like that as much. has anyone painted theres black, or do they come in black? im gonna do some checking around, but i think i like this idea, i just wanna get some feedback.

I like the way your car looks now. Im not sure about how a grill (any grill) would look.

I have always been a fan of grill techs grills. Espically the black one minus the hamburger. I don't know if it will match the smoked look of your car but you never know. I would stay with a stock grill cuz your car does look really nice

I think that the black Grille-Tech Racing style grill (round holes instead of diamonds) would look really good on your Maxima. The upper and lower at that. They have a nice finish without being too bling bling. Make sure you paint behind the grill to hide any light colored body pieces. Also, mounting a couple Hella horns would look sporty. Just my opinion. You have a BEAUTIFUL Maxima by the way. Big ups...

Im looking into a black grille I just cant decide which one to go with. Most of the aftermarket grilles look and dont really go with the car. Its hard to find a nice looking rounded grille. A honeycomb style grille powdercoated black is what im looking for a grille that you can distinguish the style even when its black.

I'm lost - why does your cardomain site take me to a honda?

To answer the question, I think a black SS grille would look sharp.

i should take that down, im not using cardomain anymore for my pics, but i guess i should. go to the link in my sig for my maxima.

im not sure if i like the grill tech ones, because they are flat, and the max is rounded in the front, thats why i prefer the SS one, but like roll4life said, its tough to determine if its gonna compliment the car, or make it look ricey. another option is of course to paint the OEM grill.

IMO 5.5th Gen aftermarket grilles don't look as good as a body colored stock grille. There's just something missing with those mesh grilles... then when ya add the emblem it doesn't look right either....

The SS grille is the least ugly one, even then, I'm not sure if it'll flow with the way the rest of your car looks now. I say either leave your stocker or paint it body color.

i think your right Joel, that idea is becoming more and more appealing. an OEM grill and some SE door handles to be dropped off at the painter may be a nice project to "debut" after winter, along with the GOD DAMN trunk and maybe some other things.

i cant remember...does the 02 grill come out, or cut out?

It should pop right out once the screws are out... no cutting involved.

Keep me posted on what ya decide...

I went from stock, to Grille Tech upper and lower, now have stock grill painted body color. I prefer the look I have now and think it would add so much more to your already beautiful car.

I will be painting my stock grill body color, Super Black. Sounds like that's the consensus, but you shouldn't do it because of that. You should do it because I said it looks good, and I'm usually right.....

i like the look of these painted grilles on the darker cars, so i think i will do it. i will try and have my handles and the grill done at the same time. so expect some subtle changes to the car for next spring

Nice ride! Here's a pic of my Maxima with the street scenes grille painted black. One of the comments I got was that the Nissan badge didn't look right under the grille. So I got a JDM Nissan "wing" badge to cover it up. Unfortunately I think some school kid ripped it off when I parked my car in front my house. I'm planning to detail my car soon so when I remove the grill, I'll pop off the badge and place it on the grille.

Another comment I got was that I should paint the OEM grill black. Out in the sunlight you can really see the difference. I'll probably paint it after the detailing.

Your Maxima is pretty clean. So painting your OEM grille would be the best way to go if you want to keep the theme.

KCMC582 Your car looks awesome! I love the blacked out trim around the windows. I've always hated the chrome.

Did you take those pics? The quality is fantastic.

I think something like this would good. Just taking the strips from the 2k2 grille and putting them on an aftermarket grille. A very quick paint chop I didnt do the badge but if I were to do this I'd probably do the badge as well.

i like that last one, thats cool. i dont know how it would look with gray luster, cuz i would do the OEM grill body color, and the SS grill black...but that could look really good.
