1st time for everything.... never saw it!

Had a meeting with my first deer ever on a dark Highway. Guess I'll find out later if it's totaled!! Seat belt worked well, but my only injury to my thumb was caused by the airbag.

Glad to see that you are ok ..

Strange that your bonnet opened ??? Did this occure as a result of the crash ?

If it did that should be a recall and fix for Nissan ...

see, Kangaroos hop on the hood. Deer buck up the hood

man, glad you're okay. Why must he tear up the front like that? that makes it even worse. Good thing the deer is down. some insurance require proof. can't get around that one.

I guess those tabs on each side of the hood really don't work as advertised? As per my Nissan dealer, it is supposed to prevent the hood from flying up like that.

Well all I remember is seeing the deer for a breif sec, and Booom! Airbags flew out, smoke, bumpy ride and then I came to a stop, I was going about 65mph, barely hit the brakes, street where wet. I closed my eyes when the bags deployed and when I got out the car the hood was laying up on the windshield.

Humor me ...

So you pull the the button inside the car then you go outside that car and just pull up the bonnet ?

or

You do the above then have to push a lever under the grill to the right, which then releases a locking catch setup ... ???

and yes your tow truck driver could have used your towing points ...

#2. there is a latch just above the hamburger. first pull release by driver's knee, hood pops an inch. then finger her to find that spot just right...

Nismo, if you look at the side of the engine bay close to the windshield, you will see a small notch/tab that is supposed to prevent the hood from flying up.

I'll post pics tomorrow if I get a chance.

Those notches stops the hood (bonnet, for the foreigner) from flying through the windshield to give you a real close shave, not from flying open.

Glad you're ok.

Should be upside down...

I reccon the Down under set up is better, it's Kangaroo , Buffelo and moo cow proof as well as the occasional person...

Couldn't tell from the pictures if you have the hook back up like ours to stop the bonnet flying up...

Double trap on the hood.

Yeah, I have full coverage. As soon as the cop and the wrecker saw it they both said that it was more than likely totaled. I'm not sure what totals out a car, but pieces were everywhere. I had to go out in the road and kick the Fan out of the road.

Deers are one stupid animal, F%uckers are so dumb, they will leap into the side of your car or SUV when you drive by, don't know how many deer I almost send to deer heaven, but at night here in Southern Maryland, the deer do better at slowing down traffic than the police...

PS, today I saved a lot of money on my car insurance, I was the 3rd vehicle in line on the way to work and we mowed down that Freakin Geico Squirrel...

R.I.P. little buddy

Lie? No, don't know their heads from their a$ses in most cases. It's unfortunate they don't want to learn their products/ customers. They would sell more and keep their jobs longer.

Geico

Hey fellas, I meet up with the damage adjuster for Geico today. The car looks alot worse in the light, but believe it or not the adjuster doesn't think its totaled. The cop thought it was and so did the tow truck driver. He said there's still a possibility of it being totaled once they tear it apart to check out the rest of the damage. He said airbags coming out alone runs 3-5g's, not to mention the hole front end.

Seeing the tow truck lifting it from the front like that gave me the same feeling as seeing a guy get kicked in the nads... "What tha' hell did they do that for???"

Glad to hear that you aren't laying in the ditch with Bambi... maybe next car you can get those deer signalers put on... under the car maybe so you can't see them.

Are you gonna get another Max if it is totalled?

yeah, they look like mini horns. and that's DEER. I had them on the old car, but knocked one off while washing and gave up on them. Maybe if you hide them in the grille. But I heard they don't work on Maximas though. Too fast or something

I actually have two types, one to make the Deer jump out of the road when driving, the second makes my wife jump out of the driveway when I come home "Sorry Dear"

Warren, weren't you in GA also? Maybe the deer tripped over a retread into the road, you see where I'm going with this...
