would anyone be interested in a magazine dedicated to the maxima?

i am seriously contemplating starting a magazine dedicated to the maxima.

What i am looking for is input on what you would like to see, for example readers rides, articles, mod information, dyno plots, etc.

No flaming, please only positive feedback.

Sounds like a good idea, but it seems like it would really expensive to do for just one make and model car. Unless you are independently wealthy, how would you make it profitable, or at least keep it financially afloat. Most magazines get a bulk of their revenue from advertising and subscriptions. Just my $.02.

To be honest, I get most of my information from this website and couldn't justify paying for a printed magazine. Not being negative here, just my thoughts.

I think it would be beneficial for the maxima community to have a printed publication to reach out and make the maxima known. Maybe, just maybe, we can finally get more aftermarket support from various companies to give us more options in mods.

it would be a cool idea but what more can you know about the maxima?
are you thinking about making 1 magazine every year or every month?
Every Year might be good enough since we cant talk about maxima's so much.
Maybe include members rides, pictures, Talk about Maxima Teams, i think it could be pretty interesting.

i think it would be a really good way to get the Maxima known and show others that there is interest; perhaps a once-a-year or bi-anually would be the best decision. otherwise, there may not be enough info to cover every month. i would like it!

I think it would be a good idea for a monthy magazine or 1 every other month. Product reviews, even throw some ICE and electronic stuff in there, readers rides, maxima of the month, etc. I say go for it if you have the cash. Our cars get so much hate from the aftermarket maybe someone will show it some love.

I'm thinking quarterly or bi annually. depending on how much help i get from the companies i will be talking to. And of course i have to take cost into consideration.

There are certian things that i really want to include, for example, a complete auto to five speed swap, and i know the mevi and 00vi are getting to be big on the org so maybe a complete how to on this would be good also. Another thing i want to do is review certian product, for example dash kits, exhausts, intakes, etc. And maybe we can get these companies to make higher quality products...

not to rain on your parade but there would be a very select amount of people who would even want to get this magazine. the maxima will only last so long before nissan discontinues it. and if you really think about it most of the info you would get would be right on this site. i really think it should be geared toward just a nissan theme...or a nissan sedan theme. like sentra, altima, maxima. i think that would be even better and you would also get alot more readers, you can have the sentra forums and the altima forums to back you on that stuff and have more companies to put ads in the magazines

I agree, A Nissan/Infinity magazine would more than likely sell quite well.

I'd most definatly subscribe if the price is not too insane. Have some articles, parts sections, and high resolution pictures.

Think about this. If you ONLY want positive feedback then everyone is going to tell you it's great idea. You will decide to proceed and then make a few thousand copies. Then when no one buys your magazine, you will wonder where all the people that supported you went. You will be left with the magazines and the bill. When you finally try to sell them for 10% on the dollar, THAT'S when everyone will buy it.

I would research the pros and cons by starting a pole (yeh/ney), for a really good quality mag you will need writers, editors, proof readers, photographers, test drivers, layout design team, access to engineers and mechanics (with reps), and hopefully an office location. Not to mention business license, tax ID, and deal with printers and distributors.

Not saying it can't be done, however I would pick a great ricer mag and solicit them to have a maxima forum section that you can contribute to and it may give you the experience and confidence you need to go with your own mag. In your forum, you can still have Maxima of the month, Tech Tips, editorials, meets, mods, and upgrade information as well as the 411 on the new year Max. Just my 3 cents. My hat still goes off to you bro for wanting to do more for the Max community...

You would have to have a sound business plan before you could go to the bank. It strikes me that your love affair with the Maxima, and consequently a magazine, could potentially be an invitation to bankruptcy. Be careful what you wish for!

You might consider contacting "Grassroots Motorsports" magazine and seeing if they would somehow allow you in for a `piece' of the action. They have a grat following and do a lot of the `hot-rod' stuff to older cars. One of their current projects is a '91 Sentra SE-R. Click HERE for the latest update. They have several "Project Cars" and a large number of supporting advertisers.

If you click HERE you will find their `homepage' and an offer for a free issue.

Right now, the .org is like a freakin book, with near endless information/knowledge.

An ezine would be nice, but I think more along the lines as a seasonal (ala Stillen) catalog that shows new products etc.

the .org > All.

NPM is the best we have now, and I don;t see it getting much better than that since, Maxima news is few and far between, and a lot of it custom.
