Few Questions about the Cattman 3.5 Y-Pipe.

I think I'm going to buy one soon. What are the gains? Any install problems? O² sensor relocation needed? What's the cost ($375?) ?

This is for a 5.5 gen with a 3.5L engine.

I would seriously wait for a set of used headers, or pony up and get some headers, because unlike the 3.0L, the gains aren't worth the price (hp/$).

Gains are in the 8-10 hp range.

Like Nmexmax said... gains are 8-10 hp....

You do not have to relocate the O2 sensors. I extended my wires so that there would be enough slack but others have said that you can just pull out the plastic clips that hold the wires in place and it'll be long enough to reach the bung.

One install tip... make sure you don't break any bolts or studs from either of the manifolds. Grease everything up real good before trying to get em off and try to use an impact.

Cost new is around $375, from me is $250 plus shipping

Gains are minimal. It sounds mean though.....

Hmmm I wanted to get a y-pipe too, but I see that you need to mess with some 02 wires. Hmmmmmmmm yeah, so it's not that simple, install and goooo, huh.

Not always, Polo installed his by just removing the clips for the wires so that the sensor would reach the bung. I actually cut and extended my O2 sensor wires. Both ways work. Depends on what you prefer.

See posts #3 & 4.

i was under the impression that y pipes on 3.5's were a waste due to the low gains for your money(10hp for 300$)...save a lil extra and go for the headers(30hp for 600$) = savings of 300$ for comparitive hp gains
correct me if im wrong

Ya pretty much nailed it... almost. Hotshot headers are $550 and Cattmans are $850.

Btw, I chose a y-pipe because I didn't have the time/money for headers and I was satisfied with the 12+ whp from the intake/y-pipe/cat-back. I also am not sure how long I'm keeping the car, so a y-pipe is much easier to uninstall than headers (my y-pipe is already gone).

Damn post whoring vulture... I'm not parting out yet... I'm just entertaining the idea of a nice wagon, but just swapping springs for now.

I'm looking for something like that pictured at left:
