Tranny/clutch Experts...Don't wanna take it to the shop

Ok the last thing i want to do is have to take my car to the shop, cause for one they are gey and theres nothing they can do that i can't (well almost) and 2 cause since i can't get the car into gear, i'd have to get it towed =(. Well heres the issue, i posted about last week. Basically my tranny just stopped shifting into gear when i was driving one day recently. I turned it off and i could shift into gears just fine but i couldn't do it with the car running. So i drove home by clutchless shifting all the way home (started the car in 1st) So first thing i did was check the fluid. There is plenty of fluid in the tranny and in the master cylinder lines.... I bleed the master cylinder line and theres no air in it. The symptoms are really whats stumping me.. I can shift when the car is not in gear, i can shift clutchless and drive fine when the car is running and the clutch doesn't seem to be fried cause it caught just fine when i slipped it a few times on the way home to test it) My clutch pedal feels totally normal (not slack or limp) but i have noticed that it makes a squeaking noise when i press the clutch pedal down with the car off (it didn't do that before i'm pretty sure). In the past year i've gotten the master and slave cylinders replaced, and the hole replaced also. So wtf could it be? I'm stumped, i know when my master cylinder went out my clutch pedal felt limp so its not that... so wtf, what do you guys think?

it could be your throw out bearing.

Since you can shift it doesn't sound like transmission. Throw out maybe.
Is the lever from the slave moving normal?
I assume the clutch is not slipping since you are still driving.
Keep us informed.

Yeap once engaged (clutchlessly) the car drives normal, but when i'm in say second at a light and i press the clutch in to come to a stop (i can't clutchless shift to first, i don't think you can do it in our trannies and i KNOW your not supposed to since 1st is only supposed to be shifted into when not moving even with the clutch) but if i'm at a light in second (or any other gear) that car tries to move forward and i have to stand on the clutch and brake to stop it (this is cause the clutch isn't disengaging so its trying to drive the wheels) So everyone agree's it prob. the throwout bearing? even with this extra knowledge?

yup.. throwout bearing.

either that or your master/slave cylinder has a problem and the slave isn't pressing the throwout bearing all the way out.

have a helper get in the car and pump the clutch pedal while you're watching the slave cylinder.. make sure it moves all the way through its stroke and stops only when the pedal hits the floor.

most likely, your throwout bearing is toast though. I've seen this happen several times and it's happened to me once personally.

old on left, new on right.. you can see where the case cracked and the ears bent in, so the pressure plate wouldn't fully disengage.

This is currently a problem with mine! What I noticed is that my brake fluid resovour was empty, the one near the firewall on the driver's side. FIll that up and start your car and that should help you with shifting for awhile till you find the leak. I drove from OR to MT with this bandaide and its still working with me having to fill 'er up every week or so....just until I can take it to a shop of some sorts.....hope this helps!
