Uneven Brake wear

OEM brakes, car never pulls to any side while braking, wheels are balanced and no uneven wear on tires, and shop says no sticky caliper. Nonetheless, I can't pass my inspection w/ one front brake having 1/32 and the other 4/32.

Does anyone know the cause of this?

Also, I've always liked the OEM brakes so can anyone recommend a site to buy them? Also, Tirerack.com says our originals were Ceramic, that's not true though is it?

(btw, it's a 96 I30)

If your caliper piston itself isn't sticking then it could be the two smaller pistons on the torque member (one or both could be seized). Also don't always take a shop's word for it. Take the caliper off and check it yourself. It's only 2 bolts.

And yes the original pads are ceramic and I suggest staying with ceramic if you want less dust and noise

Yes, the OE pads are Ceramic and honestly Ceramic is the best overall performer. Read the section in Tire Rack the talks about Ceramic pads.

+1 - You measure tire tread in 32nds, not brake pads, lol. Let me add that if one of your pads is really 1/32nd then you REALLY need new pads asap

if the 1/32 and 4/32 is the thickness of your brake pads, you need to get the brakes re-lined. as far as the uneven wear goes, it seems that the pad on the inside next to the piston always wears a little more.
