How to store car for winter...other than garage?

or one of those guady looking tent garages. I have space in my driveway and a univeral car cover i got off of ebay. Is there anything else you would reccomend like a tarp or something of that sort?

Maybe you guys can lend some tricks of the trade...I am gonna wash , wax and clay it before I store it. Fill it with gas and Stabilizer and thats about it. I will need to pull it apart for a jan 1 inspection assuming there no salt or sand on the roads...then put it back.

what do you think?>

Inspection

Why don't you get the car inspected before you put it away for the winter. Cost you a few extra bucks (for the months you are losing), but save you the trouble of unwraping it in the salt.

Make sure the cover can't get shaken around by the wind. Add grommets and ratcheting straps if necessary to hold it down at the front and rear.

Lift the car and put it on jackstands if you're worried about flatspotting the tires. The brake rotors will rust - so on the first couple drives give yourself plenty of stopping distance until they rub clean.

Add fuel stabilizer if you want if the storage is going to be 6 months or less I think it's unnecessary, but a good idea nonetheless. Finally, give it a fresh oil change and coolant flush/change so that any nasties floating in there don't have all winter to set up and attack things.

Oh, scatter mothballs around the edge of the car to ward off critters.
