PO745 and a harsh 1-2 shift? ('97)

My '97 Maxima just started shifting hard from first to second and set a code of PO745 which is something about line pressure. Anyone been here before? It has 157K on it, but she's been well maintained and the trans fluid has been changed several times.

Thanks

No, but I just measured the resistor and it's open.

There's a resistor mounted in an aluminum housing bolted to the driver's side strut housing. Measure it with a multimeter. Should be ~12 ohms if it's good.

There's ur problem.. make sure one more time that the ohm meter shows overload or infinity... if it does just replace the resistor and you should be good because the line pressure solenoid relies on the resistor... if it infact shows 12 ohms you probably need a new line pressure solenoid...

PO745 code

I would appreciate any advice from the readers. I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima GLE and the check engine light is on and the Code PO745 (Pressure Control Selenoid "A" Circuit Malfunction) is active. Could someone please explain where this is located and where to order this part from. Any other advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had same problem. Checked drop resistor, mounted on DS shock tower, behind airbox. Had infinite resistance. Replaced it and problem fix immediately.

2 year necrobumpage! But it is valuable input, I've seen a few posts with same issue, damn resistor.

I posted mostly for noobs like myself searching, let em know it worked for me. Dealer tried to sell me $500 solenoid pack, I told em just the resistor. The guy said he never saw one go bad...guess he didn't work there long.

Were you experiencing hard shifting form 1- 2 only or all gears?

Mine was only in 1-2. I know the resistor should affect all gears but I gave it a try and it worked.

My symptoms were harsh 1-2 shift, blinking OD light and fault for open circuit in shift circuit A.
