Title says whats going on. Very low toned. Haven't had time to work being a student and working 34 hours this week. Any ideas? Pads had a lot left last time I looked

Stuck Caliper?

Warped Rotor?

 

If the caliper is stuck the it will make quick work of your pads and you would likely get some type of bias when applying your brakes. You would feel a shimmy in the steering if you have a warped rotor when you apply the brakes. Sometimes the caliper pin-bolts will sieze instead of the piston itself but will still make quick work of the brakes. The pin bolts that the calipers ride on have to be clean and lubed and the little boots on them should be in good shape. If the boots are torn or just missing then eventually then the pin bolts will sieze. The caliper needs to be able to move freely on the pin bolts. I would also make sure your wheel bearing isn't going bad and make sure the hardware is in good shape. Cheapo pads can be noisy too. Recently on our 99 Max we got an awful noise from the left front not long after new brakes...turns out a small rock found it's way between the backing plate and rotor. Good luck!

 

on the subject of brakes, i recently replaced my pads and rotors, and ever since, every once in a while on the highway, the car makes a horrible grinding noise and the whole car shakes like the brakes are grinding, but it goes away as soon as i get off the highway, even going the speed. No clue what it is, but im attributing it to the new rotors and pads, which are cross drilled and slotted, and carbon fiber, respectivley.

 

you won't feel a pull of it's your rear though.
and it tends to be more high pitched if you have discs

 

- dont use brakes
- next yr check right side
- drive more center, rails do make horrible noise even not brakin

 

You could have a seized caliper piston...Once a caliper piston gets seized up,it will eat a set of new pads up very quickly..So the first thing you should do is check the pad wear....
