anyone ever open their DC bumper lights?

I am thinking of opening them up and painting them black to match my projector retrofit...has anyone done this before?

Also how good is light reflection when you paint the clearance lights (the ones beside the headlamp) with a reflective black paint?

IMO, it will look pretty cheap and gross if you open and paint them. They're such cheap material....shyt it might even melt.

You probly know of the CM smoked ones....even those look kinda cheap in person.

Ive seen a Jetta w/ ENTIRE headlights blacked out w/ reflective black paint that he said a body shop did for him when he got his body kit on....it looked fuggin SWEET - but obviously light output wont be as much.

Dont listen to him, I opened up my old set and painted them and they looked fine. The only thing that bothered me was the small border around the lights that you cant paint, you will see what I mean after you open them up

you could scrape off all the old grey glue and use black to make it look nicer.

i had dtm tails that were flat black and the bulb was still visible. it wasnt bright durning the day but it worked.

The obvious answer to what you want to do is to paint your stock orange corners with VHT Nightshades and be done with it.

Yeah that isn't really the look I was going for. At this point I am going to keep the d/c's totally clear and just darken the clearance lamps to match the all black retrofits.
