I think I got a leak in my trans

When I went outside to wash my car this afternoon I noticed 3 spots on the ground. I felt under my car and found trans fluid I believe. Would this just happen when the seals are old?

Or is it something I caused because last night I hit 5500 Rpms in 2nd before it was warmed up because some dumb*** was doing like 60 in a 35 and I pulled out in front of him and didn't think he was going that fast but I dont think that would have made it to just start leaking would it?

Revving the engine to 5500 rpms before it was warmed up won't hurt the tranny.

After all, the red line is 6,500 rpms.

Pictures

These were pictures taken a few min ago in the dark after I washed the car I sprayed degreaser on the trans and got it all off so as of right there is none down there but I pointed out the 2 spots I seen fluid but there 1 spot I actually felt the fluid on the left circled spot. Click to enlarge the image.

I seen dirt and what looked like fluid over here but didn't actually feel it on bottom picture

yep all the notorious leak spots, the first pic between the bellhousing and the motor means your rear main seal needs repacing as oil is getting in there and eventually will get as bad to coat the flywheel. about the 3rd leak by the switch i just got some JB kwik and put it all around it sense i broke the whole screw part off anyway.

Are you talking about on the left side? Is this expensive to repair? Well guess it time for some stuff to go as it has 211K on it

Yes on the left side, About the price inorder to get to the seal you have to remove the tranny, clutch and flywheel . With that taken into consideration id say between 450-900 depending on where you go. The seal itself is like $5 lol. If you havent replaced the clutch or its old or anything now is the time to do it as they wont charge anything more because they have to take the old one off anyway. At that time though you should really get your flywheel resurfaced aswell which should be an extra 25-50. Its really up to you what you want to do, fix the problems at hand and be done, or fix the problems and sense your already paying that have a new clutch put in and not have to worry about it for a long long time.

I would not fix the rear main seal unless you need a new clutch--then when you get it replaced, get the seal replaced at the same time for peanuts. The neutral position switch leak also does not look terrible. It is not too expensive so you might want to consider replacing it but bear in mind, some have done so and it still leaked! In any case, keep an eye on your oil level especially if you get ground puddles. It's a pretty bad leak if you leave a puddle on the ground overnight (in both cases). Bottom line: I wouldn't worry about it too much for now.
