Here's my situation: I ordered AGX struts for my 96 SE. The car has stock springs, 16" rims w/215/60r16 tires. It is my daily driver and often times I have 4 people in the car. I want to lower the car a little bit, not drop it completely and I don't want the ride to be to harsh for my passengers. What do you recommend in my situation? Any thoughts are welcome. Here is a picture of the car to give you an idea.

are you just looking for help/advice on which springs to get? you should consider H-Techs, H&R's or Eibachs. they provide just a small drop and still a comfortable ride. oh, and coilovers cannot work with struts. they replace a strut/spring combo.

Unless you have Sleeve Coilovers like the Ground Controls i have. But i wouldn't recommend those as they are pretty stiff and harsh. But i like the adjustablity of height.

 

oh. i wouldn't even consider those to be an applicable mod. the ground controls, perhaps, but the sleves they sell on ebay for about $.99 plus $20 shipping are a joke. just do it right the first time.

Thanks for the input guys. I was wondering, is it just me or do the H&R springs tend to sag in the rear? The pictures I've seen seem to point that out.

 

i would recommend progress springs, a bit more drop (1.7 f 1.5 r ) i believe but they are a very smooth ride and absolutely no sag

 

if you are gonna invest money into suspension, do it once and do it right. get urself some true coilovers and call it a day. they ride very smooth and u can slam the ride all the way. why spend $600 for 1" drop? dont even bother....... ur only fooling urself

 

i agree with 98mikeXimaSE just buy some coilovers.

 

Since he only wants to lower a little bit and have a smooth ride (i.e., not coilovers) I think H&Rs or Tein H-Techs are your best bets. I have H-Techs and like the ride, handles well but still looks good and rides nicely. From what I've read Eibachs (like someone suggested before) might be a bit stiffer than what you're looking for.

 

hey hector, are those pics after the drop?what size are those rims?i have 18's and the gap is atrocious...i was wondering if it'll close it.

Back on topic, $165 shipped isn't a bad price, that's around what I paid for them.

 

Those rims are actually 16's. I now have my sawblades back on and the gap looks smaller. As for making your gap smaller after the drop look for some tires with a higher sidewall. Yes, i didn't mean go buy sleeves. If i could do it again, i'd go Ksport. Which i'm planning on doing down the road anyways. Mikes98se just looks siick!

 

yes. yes it does!! one of the cleanest cars on the .org! i may switch to coilovers eventually depending on what happens. we'll see.
