New idea, exhaust powered BOV
New idea, exhaust powered BOV
Check it out, i was thinking up ideas for a friend who has a Matrix that wants blow off valve action every time he shifts. The catch is he doesn't want to spend money on a turbo yet.
i know most of you are going to flame me, but hey, i was creative!
here's my idea, don't hate because i can't photoshop!

what do you think? would it work?

Where is someone with the "Thread Failure" picture when you need them.
He wants his car to "fart" like a ricer I guess. That must explain the 5 foot tach that revs to 89k.
This would have been better posted in a CRX forum.
@ the guy with his d!ck in his exhaust

Did you eat rice for breakfast this morning?
hey if it works and it sounds clean i guess you can make some money huh
i herd they had one on ebay but it sounds like a dog whistle

why waste time/effort/money into something that is not truly functional. out of curiousity, why do you need a 5" tachometer mainly one that goes to 8k rpms. NOS octane booster?
5" tachs are popular with the ricers to handle all that power that the NOS and APC stickers
So, every time he lets his foot off the gas, that thing is going to whistle away until he hits the throttle again?
Its JDM yo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

then why is your diagram a Nissan block?good try though.
oh, by the way guys, my uh friend wants to get one of those blow-off valve whistlers for his muffler. should he?
yes/no?
It won't work. The muffler(s) and 2nd throttle body will let too much air out while it is open. When the TB closes, it will take a couple of seconds to fill/pressurize the exhaust piping enough to cause pressurized release from the BOV (not including the pressure lost through the muffler, itself). So to make it work, he would have to weld his exhaust shut. Also, he would need a very small diameter throttle body, to let the least amount of air out to obtain pressure/ restriction in the piping. It's not instantanous. Might as well tell him to play the BOV sound out of his "APC" speakers everytime he or his car shifts.

Wow, this thread got out of control quick. But damn it is funny.
BTW, you been to have a Type-R badge on your car for the BOV to function correctly without FI.
Also you need to do this:

The Low-Down on High Octane Gasoline:
Are you tempted to buy a high octane gasoline for your car because you want to improve its performance? If so, take note: the recommended gasoline for most cars is regular octane. In fact, in most cases, using a higher octane gasoline than your owner's manual recommends offers absolutely no benefit. It won't make your car perform better, go faster, get better mileage or run cleaner. Your best bet: listen to your owner's manual.
The only time you might need to switch to a higher octane level is if your car engine knocks when you use the recommended fuel. This happens to a small percentage of cars.
Unless your engine is knocking, buying higher octane gasoline is a waste of money, too. Premium gas costs 15 to 20 cents per gallon more than regular. That can add up to $100 or more a year in extra costs. Studies indicate that altogether, drivers may be spending hundreds of millions of dollars each year for higher octane gas than they need.
