The car passed everything except the guy said the check engine light doesn't work. Sometime when I cut the car on the check engine light is on and when i cut the car off and back on again it goes away. I have a technosquare ECU.

Anyone know what the cause could be for the check engine light to come on sometimes and then not come on?

 

Anytime my car was throwing codes the check engine light would come on after some start-ups but not always... Did you run the codes, because you could still pass inspection and still be throwing codes- well you'll only pass if that lights not on, just reset it right before you pull in for inspection..??

 

From your description it sounds like your CEL works in itself but your technosquare ECU is throwing codes but not illuminating the CEL. When you put the car in the ON position (w/o it running) the CEL should be on whether there are codes or not. I think the easiest solution would be to put the stock back in and put some miles on it and bring it back. Or you can stop by autozone and see what code reader says.
