95 Gauge Cluster Upgrade: ?

I have posted this several times for information regarding what wires I need to splice in order to have a 98 gauge cluster witht he digital odometer work in my 95 maxima with an analog cluster...Can someone search this for me or let me know what wires are needed to splice for this to work?! Thanks in advance.

everywire needs to be changed. 98SEBlackMax did the original swap. you are best off getting an FSM for the 2 years.

Sucks when you do cluster swap because then you get "True mileage unknown". Same with engine swap.

Every wire needs to be spliced onto the new connectors. You need the new gauge cluster and the connectors from the other harness in order to use it.

yea splice the newer plugs in and match every wire up. then run a new wire for the constant voltage (memory) to the tripmeter.

yep...best way to do it is get the FSM's for the 2 years....i'm upgrading my cluster to a 2k1 cluster. As far as I know, I'm the first one to do this, we'll see how it goes.

really...you know anybody else who did it? cause help would def be appreciated. I know of the guy who upgraded to a 2k2 cluster, but that's a totally different cluster.

Now I'm not sure if it was a 2k2 cluster or 2k1, I have some pics saved on my hard drive.

and I remember the thread, he was still trying to get the ambien temperature to work. If you remember that thread, was that the 2k2? or 2k1?

it was the 2k3 cluster...2k1 doesnt have ambient temperature or gas mileage, just looks better IMO.

I have a schematic for anyone that wants to do it, which wires to splice, and replace from the '98 cluster to '01 cluster. I havent tested it yet, but it all works in theory, because the signals SHOULD be the same.

well, here's what i did, i got the 2 FSM's, and played connect the dots. I elminated the wires that are not applicable, like TCS and SLIP lights on the '01, and voila, i got the same amount of wires in both clusters. i just then converted the pin numbers from the '98 to the '01. Seeing as all the sensors are generally the same for all models '95-'01, everything should wire up nicely. Going from a '98 to '03 would be much harder, different sensors, and alot of extra wiring. I just want the cluster cause it's something different, and I think it looks nicer than the '98 cluster (i have chrome gauge rings in mine and painted the bezel metallic black) But the install and wiring should be very similar to the '95. It's pretty time consuming, I hope to do this on the weekend, I'll post pics when I do.

-Also take into account if your car's auto or manual. My car's manual, but with an auto ecu (5spd convert), so i'll have to deal with more wires than usual. The '01 auto cluster has a gear selector, and the 4th gen doesn't....i'm glad i'm buying a 5th gen manual cluster.

95-98

That's awesome you have the FSM for the 98 to 02 but you wouldn't happen to have the 95 to 98 conversion schematics would you?! I am also a 5spd...just trying to actually use the digital odometer and tripometer...
