They are 6.5s front and rear. Although I wouldnt recommend buying any kind of reputable speakers from a store that sells boots and clothes....

BTW..1000 and 2000 watt amps for $20...dont believe the hype.

If I had overstocks of Allpline amps I'd sell them for $20 too.

Is this store actually one of those retarded liquidation expos that advertise on the radio all the time. That have $5 Tommy jeans, $15 digital cameras, $20 1000 watt amps... yeah they are bull****. I've gone to a couple of those just out of pure boredom and curiosity, first you usually have to pay to get in. Then you realize all the **** there is either fake ripoffs or manufacture defects. Such as clothes with one sleeve too long or some **** like that. Of the times I went I never saw the great deals they always talk about, at least not on equipment that was worth buying. I think they sell one 1000watt Kicker amp for $20 just to be able to advertise that they have that deal there.

On the subject of audio..

Anyone have advice on what to do about a "CD ERROR" message on the Bose premium system of a '97 SE--it's all I get when I put any CD in? This is not a CD changer system, just the single-CD player and cassette. Thanks.

yep. i too went out of boredom with a few friends.. bunch of crap, used junk, wasted 8 bucks to get in, then bought nothing. the ONLY thing that was decent were the prices of computer monitors, and maybe the occasional computer. other than that, it reminded me of a fair/flea market.

You need 6.5s all around. 6.75 work better because its a 6.5 speaker and then a tweeter. 6x9 and 6x5 will not fit the car without some fabrication. If you plan on just buying speakers...then go 6.5 but if you want a component set you have to look for 6.75. Dont try looking for a speaker that is 6.75....it doesnt exist. At least ive never seen/heard of one.

just to clarify, by "stock" do you mean "not Bose"?

6.75" do exist, that's what my 93 altima had on the rear deck. I bought a set of 6.5", but the holes didn't line up properly. 6.75" are sometimes called "6.5 S"

what if a cut it.

ok the back spearker holes are 6X5. so what if I cut off 4 inches to the side so it could fit the 6X9 speakers. i'll mark it so i wont cut to it wrong.

will that work??

I'm not sure if that would work. 6.5" speakers are round, and 6x9 are oval. that means that even at it's widest point, a 6x9 speaker would be 1/2" smaller than the hole that's already cut. How about just getting a set of high quality speakers that fit properly?

6.75" speakers are nothing more than 6.5s with slightly larger mounting tabs.

Your speakers in the front and back are 6's, not 6x9s.

I think we've established that they're not 6x9's, but they're certainly not 6". I've never seen one that size, certainly not from mainstream vendors.

I wanted to ask again and make sure we're NOT talking about a Bose system that came with the car.

Check here: http://madchef.5u.com/maxima/bose/fixes.html

I've got the same problem, but it's a suface mount resistor, don't think I can solder that myself.

You can cut it so you fit 15 inch woofers in there. Or you can be really cool and just have them taped to your back window. Get some neon lights for the bottom of your car too. And lots of stickers. Staple a flag to your hood. And you should be set.

If I was mean I'd say you should forget about speakers and go to Border's Books and Music and start reading

That's right, very good!! but not photoshop "paint" pretty good though right?!! You can do it with any car they show. But all kidding aside I did have to edit everything (only used it for the general shape and color) add the tint, pinstripe, wheels, lip kit, lights, drop, emblems, brakes...... just about everything. It wasn't that easy to make it look right. But good news is everything in the picture is on the car or being put on the car and it should/will look very close to that. Until then I'm having to drive my EB ford expo. at 11 MPG while it is in the shop. I can't wait to get it back it's been gone almost 3 months!!! You know what they say you can get it cheap, fast, or good but you can't have all three and I'm cheap!!!!!! It turns out it had some real damage done to it. I thought it was just going to be a new paint job and the body kit, springs, and such but nothing is ever that easy. They found LOTS of bondo!! Over 1/2 an inch in places. it has been t-boned on the pass. side and been through a HELLUVA hail storm. And I've had this car almost 8 years and never knew. So they cut it all out and replaced all of the body panels doors, hood trunk lid,...etc. they could. They are sealing it this week and going straight to paint (I hope). I'm going to replace the "shopped" photo with a real one when I get it back.

Just to get back on topic they do make 6.75" coaxis speakers not just comp. just get the right thing and you will be better of for it. buy the comps for the front and the coaxis for the rear. check crutchfeilds if you can't find them.

BTW round speaker produce and much better sound compaired to oval. the ONLY reason to use oval speakers is if you don't have any choice due to space or exiting opening. DO NOT CUT YOUR CAR FOR THOSE SPEAKERS!!!!!undefined
