Mark,

This has been discussed in the 4th generation forum. For more details, here are search results for the part number "4524" in the 4th generation forum:

http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?...der=descending

OEM Part Numbers:
Hood Shocks: 65470-40u00 (Left) 65471-40u00(Right)

These replacement struts are made by "Strong Arm" and are cheap alternatives to the "weak" OEM ones:

Strong Arm #4524 (Aftermarket)

These are what the various Auto Parts stores may refer to them as instead of Strong Arm #4524:

NAPA Auto Parts: Part # 819-4737
Autozone: Part # 95784 ( Mighty Lift )
Kragen: part # 072-862 ( Steady Lift )
Car Quest: Part # 4524

Will the ones listed above fit on a 3rd gen also, if not what are the part #'s for the 3rd gen?

No, they probably won't fit a 3rd gen.

Looks like I need to make another sticky post in the 3rd gen forum......

For 89 to 94 Maximas:

Front Hood Supports
Gabriel Branded Driver Side #4913 $32.09
Gabriel Branded Passenger Side #4914 $32.09

You can get these at carparts.com or at a local Pep Boys (which stocks Gabriel parts). I'm not aware of other replacements.

Is it possible somehow to use/modify the ones on a 5th Gen? The hood feels light as a feather with those lifts
