got rear ended today, lady doesnt have insurance
i got rear ended today i was at a red light and it was raining and she hit me from behind.
I got out and the lady said she doesnt have insurance but she will pay for the damages
i just took a quick look at the bumper and there was scrapes and a little indentation.
Im gonna call her tonite so i dont let it die down, i would like to tell her how much she owes without goin on for an estimate
MY QUESTION IS
how much would a rear bumper range from and a paint job on the bumper...
just so i have an idea b4 goin to the mechanic for an estimate.
thnx , joe

I'd take it for an estimate and let them check to see if there was any frame damage. You don't want to get screwed later on. Just because there are a few scratches doesn't mean all of the stuff behind the bumper is fine.
Well once you leave the scene of the crime, you basicly have no proof of it happening. She can say "what accident" and leave you high and dry. You should have said, I will fill out an accidet report tonight and have the car estimated tomorrow. I will call you with the estimate and if you can give me $xxx CASH(no checks), I will tear up the report and we can call it even stevens. Resolve it asap. After like 24-48-72 hours or something, you can file the report.
In general, it should be about $200 for a total bumper repaint.

I got rear ended a couple weeks ago...
Take it for a free estimate, it takes maybe 10 minutes. I am in a similar situation where the bumper is scratched, but the exhaust is pushed forward and bent all to hell.

I actually put some armorall on the bumper, and polished it up, and besides the scratches and the noise the muffler makes, you probably wouldn't be able to tell I'd been hit at a glance. He hit me going about 20mph.
$1500 total damages, so yours could definitely be more than what it looks like at a glance.
My estimates have been running $300 for the basic new bumper cover and paint; up to $500 if they have to replace those foam baffles inside it.
Exhaust (cat-back genuine nissan muffler & resonator) is running about $800-1200 including a check to make sure the frame isn't bent. $500 for a generic replacement muffler & resonator.
Assuming you have it, you might want to look into your own policy and see if you have uninsured motorist coverage. Of course for $500, it may not be worth it.

It also helps to have a camera with you, I always have a Kodak single-use camera with flash in the glove compartment, so when you have an accident take lots of pictures of both cars and everyone involved because it will save you a lot of trouble later on if there are complications (like the accident being a setup by a con artist trying to rip you off, they see a mixima think you have money and will set up so you hit them and make it look like your fault and then their car will suddenly develop serious mechanical damage from the accident and their neck will start to hurt when it's time for court. An incident exactly like this happened to my friend's sister once so be prepared)
