Clear out 97-99 Outer Taillight

What is the preferred and easiest way to remove the amber lense. Whwn you heat it up, do yo 1st remove the phillips head screws, and what about the rubber "gap filler" - does that have to be removed 1st.

Sorry I can't search, and I know this has been covered a million times. Maybe a couple of links is what I need.

Sorry !

Amber lense

Thanks - still not sure about the black rubber piece. I'm afraid that'll melt from the heat, but also that it will tear it while removing it. Any comments?
