well you want to be sure that it does not cause vaucum leak. Just take off the hose to the pvc valve and screw it out and screw the new one in good.

If you have a vacuum leak it will cause surging and things of that nature.

pretty easy

though it took awhile for me to get the hose off the PCV valve itself because of how short it is, ended up just using vice gribs and ripping it off after getting frustrated...

didnt hurt it though

If you cant afford to spend the $3 at a local auto store, spray TB cleaner into a cup, and let your PCV valve sit in it. The build up will get broken down and your PCV valve will be almost like new.

Shake it before you do this, if your pcv valve is rather clogged you'll hear no rattle. After soaking it in TB Cleaner for about 5-10 mins, shake it after, you should hear the rattle.

Positive Crankase Ventilation. when a piston is going down it creates positive pressure underneath it, allthough another piston is rising and creating negative pressure at the same time, the pressures can't equal out fast enough so there is going to be some positive pressure at some point, this must be vented or it will blow seals and gaskets, because of blow-by and the like it must be vented to the intake for emissions purposes, since it's going to the intake it has to have a one-way valve so as to not cause a leak. If that one-way valve (the pcv valve) clogs up it can blow your rear main seal or other things. imho I would buy the nissan pcv as opposed to saving a $1.

on the intake manifold to the right of the left of the coil pack on cyclinder 5. Right next to all the TB cables.

it's litterally stuck into the crank case at the top just to the side of the TB
and it might be hard to pull out. just work at it for a minute and eventually it will come out. you will have to take off the hose thats attached to it to pull it out, and if you have a strut bar and are too lazy to take that off like me it will be kind of a pain to get the PCV valve out.
