possible to add heated mirrors?

My grandpas getting rid of his 94 Max as it needs to much work to pass emissions and I thought about taking a few things from it and the heated mirrors are one of them. Anyone know if its possible to add it to my already powered mirrors without buying new mirrors with the heatpads on them? If I can any chance that the switch itself is a plug and play thing or will I have to run a designated wire from his switch to my mirrors? Thanks for the help.

4th gens are pre-wired for heated mirrors, but I don't think that 3rd gen mirrors would physically fit on a 4th, much less have the same connectors and pinout.

Where can I buy heated mirrors for a 4th gen? And is there a how-to on installing them, anywhere?

My mom's Golf has heated mirrors - pretty nice feature on cold winter mornings.

I doubt there are any auto-dimming side mirrors? haha... I really wish I had some of those...

Well for him to pass emissions he said it needs a whole new exhaust, 3 or 4 sensors, lose the tint even though its within legality, 4 new tires and 2 more things that I forgot. Supposedly $1000+ with us doing the work so he doesnt want to save it since its now 11 years old. If mine is prewired then am I able to just swap out the switch either with his if the pins match or get a 99 switch and attach his heat pads to my mirror or get the preassembeled heated mirrors? If i need a 99 switch, how much do they run for either junkyard/internet or new?

The heated mirrors don't have a switch to turn them on, they come on when you turn on the rear defroster. The 3rd gen mirror isn't compatable with 4th gens. You can't use them on your 99.

Where's the plug for the heated part of the mirror. It's a gray piece that plugs into a harness. Where would that harness be?

So if i just obtain mirrors that are for a 99 that are heated and take my old ones out I just plug them in and it'll work with the rear defroster without changing the power mirror switch?

If you look at the ebay mirrors that have the heated option its an extra gray harness. Don't know if we are pre wired for that or where to look for that wire harness in the door panel.
