There are several threads about vibrations during accelleration, even moderately, with axles from Auto Zone. I just purchased a car that the axles had been recently replaced and it has a vibration during accelleration. I plan on changing them when I get a chance. I will not get the next set from Auto Zone or Advance Auto.

please please please invest in raxles. goto raxles.com i have 100k old control arm bushings and tie rod ends and blown shocks. when my cv boots ripped, i just opted to change the whole axle. the car rides smoothly after the raxle install, even though everything else is worn out. its pricey, but has a great reputation everywhere.

I can not express enough the quality of product and service from raxles. From now on any car I work on, will only get raxles axles put in them. They are worth it and you do not have to worry.

I wouldnt trust ebay with such an important part as an axle. There is a member who purcahsed an axle from a seller on ebay and has had no problems what so ever.

Its your car, and your life. . .

I never had any problems with my Autozone replacement axles. I had one in my 96 max and have two in my turbo max.

It all depends on who makes/remanufactures the axle. I first purchased an axle from advanced auto parts, and installed it in the car. I wanted to save money and have a (what I thought) was a lifetime warantee.

After installing, I had terrible vibrations, that were cured with a new axle.

I believe the key is to purchase a new axle vs a reman one.

Just for everyone's information, Raxles doesn't necessarily use new inner CV joints. They're guaranteed to have new OUTER joints is all. Not that it necessarily matters much.

Grease only means that your boot is torn, if it just happened, then you might get lucky and probably get away with changing the boot only. and that part on ebey....I would say no, you will have to do more work if that piece that is for sale is only a part of the whole axle. it looks like it is missing the shaft and the rest of the axle. Why would you need only the joint and the boot anyway?

I can vouch for raxles as well. New inner CV joints or not, there product is top quality. It's been 3 something years since I replaced my fronts and I have no problems with em to date. There pricing is competive and service is great. Ultimately the choice is yours, but it really couldn't hurt to at least check there website out.

Capitone Out....

"it looks like it is missing the shaft and the rest of the axle. Why would you need only the joint and the boot anyway?" That's like saying I need new tires so I better get new rims! Or I need to change my spark plugs so I'd better change the engine! I only need the cv joint, not the whole axle or even the CV joint on the drivers side so why would I buy all that?

I am impressed with my ebay axle from seller: 6512cv. Here's a link to my review:

So far, I have no detectable vibrations. For the price, and for how they've treated me so far, I am very happy with my decision to buy from this seller.

take off your cv shafts, go to autozone and give them your cores for a new set. you'll prolly pay around 100 bucks for both cv shafts. trust me, they will make you a very happy man.

the labor to replace just the boot exceeds the labor for the whole axle. i have done both and i would buy a reman. over rebooting in a heart beat.

the only place to get new axles other than the dealer is raxles, every auto parts chain sells remanufactured pieces. they take your core and rebuild it.

i have only bought napa axles and they are top notch and ive never had a lick of trouble. i installed them on my dads 96, both sides, and 1 on my cousins b14.

Checking out 6512cv

I talked to the guy at 6512CV and he assured me that all the parts he uses are new. I told him about the quiver I am having during accelleration and pulling up to about 30 MPH and he said this sounds like an inner cv joint problem. The lady I got the car from had axles installed about 1 1/2 years ago and she said it has made that quiver since.
I am planing on ordering a new set from 6512cv right after Christmas.
This guy does not take in your used axles.
I was not aware Auto Zone and Advanced Auto sold new axles. How much more do they cost than the remanufactured ones they sell?
