auto shifting on 1/4 in a 3k3

when i run the 1/4 mile, i dont seem to reach the redline if i just leave it in drive. If i hold it in first i hit the rev limiter every time, although its still faster and i ran my pb by hitting the rev limiter, there has to be a better way. What rpm should i shift into 2nd at so that it doesnt hit the rev limiter? I dunno if its just my car, but after i put it into 2nd it stays in first for just a lil bit.

My car is a little slow to shift too I think its normal. When I am playin around in the corners I manually shift my car as well and I usually have to shift a little earlier just to compensate for the delay in shifts.

any idea where the best place to shift is so that it gets right to the redline but doesnt get the rev limiter?

Practice...

A33B's are notorious for having a tachometer that's off by a few hundred RPM, so I typically shift at, (what the tach is reading) 6300, and it seems to shift just before fuel cut.

Yeah I deff agree practice helps a ton although in straight line races I generally just leave it drive and focus on trying to get the thing to hook up. Its only when I am driving quickly on a curvy road that leaving the car in second gear which is great to power out of the corners.

lol, yes def wrong forum. I warm the tires in the waterbox so sticking isnt really a problem. i just wanna go as fast aas possible so no rev limiting will help.
